Post by: tdibilly on September 21, 2013, 07:04:54 pm
Went out today nothing more than normal & after a stop off at the shops, the radio (rns 310) is now asking for the code to be entered??, Thing is ive only had it 3 months & the code didn't come with it, why did it do this & whats the cheapest way out for me?, fed up at the mo its my first vw after many years as a vx owner & was looking forward to less problems. Any suggestions would be greatfull.

Check your vehicle handbook etc- code may be hiding in there somewhere. If no joy am afraid you may well need to go to the dealers.

Did you buy it privately? If so ask the guy if he knows the code. Was the batt disconnected recently, this can cause it I have heard.

If the radio came with the car as standard normally you dont need to put the code in.

VW is your best option as it's not possible to retrieve the radio security code even with the genuine VCDS cable (unlike your counterfeit copy)

I found some dealers will give u code and others charge £15 by me ...you need your chassis number and the serial number off the sticker on side of unit then they can do it over phone
