What oil do vw use for servicing ?

The only reason I ask is my oil filler cap says we recommend castrol

But the vw parts department say quantum 5w 30

Who makes quantum ? Never heard of it

From experience they have always used either Castrol Edge or Quantum. Not sure if one is better than the other etc.

They use quantum in my experience. There are lots of threads on this do a search. From memory many ops said it was essentially the same oil but with diff branding.

I thought that the Quantum stuff was made by castrol for VW?

My last two services i have gone to ECP and bought castrol edge whilst on offer and take it in with me and they use that.

Saved me about £10-12 extra per service.
