Are we going to see significant weight saving over the standard R32 set-up?   :signLOL:

Ok....

firstly sincere apologies for the delay.....

Coming up on the second year of Vagbremtechnic Limited, still havent done a website, over 500 kits of various descriptions supplied to date and I've still got holes in what Id like to supply for a price that I know people would perceive as good value.

I read on here people with a stage 2/2+ GTIs/R's/S3s and theyre very quick, having soken to many of you over the last 6 years I would guess that one in ten of those cars would see a race track, 5 out of 100 would see a race track regularly. I think theres a cutoff whereby a full on BBK needs sorting together with the rears to bring balance and a overall dynamic upgrade....the TTRS being the case in point....I think that point on a Mk5 Platform car is around 400BHP..... in which case fast road or track get a BBK

The other trigger point that I think exists is suspension, there seems little point in spending 2 months salary on AST's finest with remote reservoirs and 10 way adjustability to hang heavy OEM brakes off them.

One other point is that some people just like an OEM look...

Up until now the only real pads for the R32 setup which may have held their own on a trackday or repeated fast road driving on a staged car would were M1144.... DS2500s wont cut it on anything except mild fast road...

So a bit of background, my company is a third owned by the largest AP Racing dealer in the EU, we also supply pads, LOTS of pads, the parent company doesnt really do retail unless you're Beddie or Dan GB! without turing this into a huge advert we supply Pagid RS and many many more pads even manufacturing for one well known manufacturer. S3 Gaz (Butler) has had the tour

So my point being we've got good lines of supply, the BTCC teams have had a huge amount of success with Project Mu pads, there were three compounds homologated H16, H19, H21

The H21 was the compound that most of the BTCC teams we supply run, it ticks a lot of boxes and most importantly lasts the race. The H16 compound is a really interesting one its got huge bite, got good wear rates, its also quiet and low dust.............you can probably see where this is going...

So in the majority of cases Do you Really Need a BBK?

So the NQS got done, it has much merit, it ticks a lot of boxes, lightweight, cheap consumables. I'm aware the disc size puts a lot of people off even though it performs well and gives a good pedal.

Ive never been a huge fan of the R32/S3 setup but I found myself out in a Rocco R about three months ago and was pleasantly surprised that for a stock setup they felt progressive-ish and had little pedal travel. its very popular so it got me thinking what we could do to make it a little more successful on a track day and fast road

So with the NQS coming in now (even with the cheap ebay brackets copied from my design....) at around £850 I thought there may be may be something we can do with the R setup.

We've got quite a bit of pull with the pad manufacturers so an email got fired over to Japan and to cut a long story short we've had 10 sets of R32/S3 pads made in H16. they took 4 months

If its a success we'll get some more made, these are the only ones on the planet right now.

Alex has got some in stock, Ive sold a set and he's sold a set. For Project Mu they're cheap but for what we're all used to paying they're expensive. They retail at £312 plus VAT but I can guarantee nobody will pay that.

Alex's customer has teamed them up with some straight grooved Brembo S3 discs and with some hoses and fluid I'm sure it will feel very very good indeed.

These are race pads, we've carried them for TTRS and the Gallardo/RS4 8 Pot caliper with hugely fantastic feedback for a while now. If you've already got the R32 setup on the car then its an opportunity to get some BTCC quality stopping for a fraction of the costs of say a VWR setup.

Dont forget which part of a BBK actually does the work.

They have come with the clip on the outside pad so they will work on the R32 setup as well as the S3 and R Kits.

This compound is currently being run on a lot of time attack cars, its powerful and gets to temp quickly.

It seems like im never in the UK at the mo so if anybody wants to talk it through, Alex has got some and Stevey Statller has a couple of sets on the shelf too

A Pic

IMO Dave the r32 setup has much better pedal feel than the NQSBBK. I think the NQSBBK feels very wooden. will be speaking to Alex

That would pretty much go against the established reasoning, Rich. Multi piston calipers reason D'etre are to improve pedal feel, with a single piston its on or off, with 4/6 pots you can in essence tune the pedal with overall piston surface area and the individual piston sizes.

You may have just had a go in a car that maybe had old fluid or end of life pads or they were glazed a little, all the feedback I get on the NQS is the pedal feel and the confidence they inspire.

The whole point of the thread is not to sat how great the single piston setup is - its in essence the same as the diesel burning rep mobile A6's plowing up and down the motorways each and every day, its just that if you wanted to save some cash and not fork out for a crap BBK then theres options now.

A multi piston setup with floating discs with  PMU H16 will probably in all likelihood be a better fast drive than a single piston arrangement with solid discs with PMU H16. Thats fair enough you will also be worse off.

And thats what i was expecting dave. The car i drove hadnt had the kit fitted that long so maybe the pads were not bedded in. It felt like the pedal went hard quite quickly, where as the r32s seems to use more pedal travel.... does that compute?

Just spoken to alex about these pads... 90% sure ill take a set at some point.

Supposed to be up your way on Wednesday dropping off the calipers with Jonny for a refresh, cleaning off the abuse of the last 4 years before popping them on the '35 to start abusing them again  :happy2:

Like me, the R setup is big, heavy and not very sophisticated but it's a grafter and gets the job done in the end  :signLOL:

Im in North Manchester OL11 now Steve, im in Russia next week but week after pop over. Is it 4 years? Blimey. Remember you coming across for them.

Would defo be worth while grabbing a seal kit from Brakes International and purchasing some new slide bushes from TPS from a Mk4 Golf R32, the Mk4 ones are the same except theyve got a plastic insert inside the rubber which stiffens them up a bit.

New seal kit, New Bushes, New Paint - good to go  :happy2:

So, please excuse my skim readings.

What your saying is -

Uprated hoses
Uprated Discs
PMU Pads
Standard ED30 calipers

If this is the case, i'm very, very interested.
