I am talking the latest models- I want to switch in a year, maybe 2 and there is a lot to choose from all of a sudden. The new R,S3 etc will all be out by then.
Which one would you go for and why?
-
The new civic type r should be a brilliant car. I'd love it.

Reasons why. It was designed on nuringburg to beat the Megannes lap record. Meaning it will be a true race machine. Very much like the Renault tbf. Honda build quality reliability looks and super cool dash. I'm sure it will have flaws as all cars have but I'm genuinely excited about seeing this once released.

I think the new s3 looks hideous
probably Golf r
-
Megane 265!
-
either the Megane or the Audi for me. think the new Focus is hideous, and the new Golf R isn't particularly good looking either. for resale value the S3 would probably edge it for me - i get the impression hot Meganes don't hold their value well.
-
Doesn't matter.... It would more than make up for it in term of smiles!

Not a fan of the new Focus design either, hard to distinguish from a Fiesta and dislike the wheels.
Don't like the new A3/S3 design, looks worse than the last generation.
The Civic is launching quite late isn't it? The next generation of models will probably only be a year away but the Civic will most likely be well received. Also how will a 1.6 engine sound...
The MK7 Golf GTI and R looks have grown on me, if cost isn't an issue then probably a Golf R.
-
Most likely another Golf R for me, but I must admit that there isn't much that gets my juices flowing from the rest of that list. At a push the S3, but the others would fall behind once modified due to the fwd platform.
-
Im all about the Golf!!
Currently have a GTI, id go for the R for a little more go
:driver:
-
Golf R wins for me - the rest are nice but you need an animal when you want one!
-
None of them. If I had 30-35K spend I'd get a 1 to 2 year old S4 or S5 and Revo Stage 1. Different gravy.

+1 for the new civic type r..im waiting till a release date then a dippers going down on one,i have a soft spot for hondas as last 2 cars were an ep3 then a dc5 teg in white..
-
If I was in the position to be able to choose one of those , probably the Golf 7 R , I havent seen the new Type R yet though , nor do I know anything about it. Audis leave me cold for some reason , however good they are , i just dont want one - unless it was over 25 years old! I dont mind the Focus now , I hated the new shape when it first came out but I do quite like the ST. I also like the Megane 265 Cup but would have worries about reliability.
-
The mk7 golf r seems to be the second fastest hot hatch at the mo only to the megane !
Depends on what you want ? I'd pesonally sacrifice a little bit of track speed for build quality, reliability, and day to day liveability !
Mk7 R for me please :pomppomp:
-
would sway between Type r depending on how it drives and Golf R provided both will be priced the same. Also would consider 135iM
Paul

The MK7 Golf R should be a brilliant drive if the MK7 GTI is anything to go buy, but in my opinion the styling is a complete failure. Too conservative for me!
Would have to be the S3 for me :happy2:

Bland Audi??

the Meganes interior is absolutely awful, looks like a £7k car inside

You dont buy a RS Reno for its interior.... however i dont they are that bad really.
-
They are a drivers car simple everyone that's ever owned or driven a Renault sport will say the same and as for the inside it's got fantastic seats a nice steering wheel a manual gearbox what more do you need
-
This new Civic should be a corker. Build quality and an exciting drive. They are taking their sweet time to get it right, and testing against the mighty RS500 so they are certainly aiming high.
:jumpmove:
-
ive never been around as corner as fast as I have in a Renault sport
-
Fast is great, but its more fun going sideways.

I prefer the S3 in saloon form, has a hint of the previous A4 in terms of profile
-
The R was nicer looking than the S3 with the last generation and it's the same again only the S3 is worse, rounder and softer in appearance like an A1.
I think it looks better in Saloon form but how much difference will there be between A3 and A4 saloon?
The 1.6 engine in the Civic sounds a bit weedy, sure it's plenty powerful enough but a 1.6 inline four isn't going to sound great discounting acoustic assistance.
The m135i divides opinion but between these two I'm not sure which one I prefer...leaning towards the bread van :signLOL:.

Think they both look bland above and don't look special at all
-
Where are you guys coming up with this 1.6 engine type r? The new type r is due for release in 2015 and has a 2ltr turbo engine with 275bhp as a minimum

The details haven't been confirmed but it was hinted a 1.6 may be used in a couple of car mags so we shall see.

The test car is registered as a 2.2 IIRC :happy2:
My car check iPhone app confirms it

What does llrc mean?
