Title: Car just waxed- when I next wash it will all the wax come off?
Post by: Homer on September 28, 2013, 10:03:12 pm
So I have spent ages using dodo orange crush wax on the car and was wondering how much of the wax will remain after I next wash the car? Thanks for any input

I believe it will last.  Avoid using washing up liquid unless you want it stripped back to pre wax

How much of the wax?
We cannot answer such a question.
If you wash your car with a wax-safe shampoo it should last about 2-3 months depending on what wax it is, whether you applied it properly, whether you applied it to a prepared surface of just waxed a car which hadn't been clayed, polished and treated to a pre-wax solution.

As said dont use washing up liquid, that will remove most of it. Also if you use too much decent shampoo (as in strong mix) this will also remove it a lot quicker. You'd be surprised that a lot of people use too much product.

A good ph neutral shampoo with the correct quantities will ensure something like orange crush will last around 3 months. If the car was polished before the wax applied the finish will still come up nice and clean after each maintenance wash. You may wish to invest in something like red mist from dodo to use after each wash to enhance the shine and provide a little top up to the protection.
