Title: MDI + Bluetooth 729B questions
Post by: CocoPops on September 30, 2013, 01:21:36 pm
I'm running an RNS510 with MDI and Skoda UHV Bluetooth (729B unit).

The bluetooth works fine with my iPhone5, so I'm assuming a 5s would be fine?

What about charging via the MDI? Is there an MDI to Lightning cable yet? Or do I need to get a 30pin to Lightning convertor?

I want to put the iPhone into a Brodit mount, but clearly the cable has an impact.

Is there a better method? Is there a way to control the iPhone via Bluetooth if I upgrade the 729B?

So, the 5s works fine with 729B

I'd love to stream music from phone though.

So, I've done some looking around and seem to find that I need a longer MDI cable and a 30pin to Lightning Adaptor.

What about replacing the 729B unit with a newer one? Worth doing?

We'll due to the many replies  I thought I'd report back with my findings...

iPhone 5s works fine with 729b Bluetooth and works fine with mid via 30pin to lightning connector.

You can even FaceTime and have the sound go through the car system  :happy2:

Given that the RNS510 doesn't display Bluetooth as a source... I'd guess not.

Shame cause that's neat feature!

To be honest, MDI is stereo and Bluetooth is mono, so probably best to stick to MDI for music.
