Title: My Steel Grey Edition 30
Post by: Jonneh on October 04, 2013, 11:51:09 am
Hello everyone! New lad to the Mk5 GTI and i'm loving every minute of it. Bought myself an Edition 30 a couple of weeks ago with the best spec I could find in the best colour.  Obviously in my opinion!  (It is though).

Haven't had chance to give it a proper detail yet, gonna try do that on Monday but its utterly mint inside and out so not worried!

Spec wise its obviously got the Edition 30 standard options, DSG, Convenience pack, Sat nav, Cruise control, MFSW, Parking sensors and Xenons!

Here are some pics, not great ones but ok to get the ball rolling!

Plans are to keep it fairly standard to look at but make subtle changes to improve the performance and handling.

So hopefully; coilovers, remap, and a few engine bits!

There she is, comments welcome. :)

Jonny.

Thanks chap, I looked for quite a while. Couldn't find a better one for spec and colour on the web at all. I wanted a 5 door too so it was perfect.

Will be trying to get involved on here, are there any Mk5 meets or anything that goes on?

Thanks bud!

Had a play around with VCDS yesterday and have activated some of the hidden options. So now running with the yank spec DRLs, cornering lights and put the car through a full logging process! It runs utterly perfectly and all the boost levels requested and actual and MAF levels look very very good.

It did find some codes when i read the full car.

Quote
Address 16: Steering wheel        Labels: 1K0-953-549-MY8.lbl
   Part No SW: 1K0 953 549 AQ    HW: 1K0 953 549 AQ
   Component: J0527           036 0070
   Coding: 0012122
   Shop #: WSC 01279 785 00200

   Part No: XXXXXXXXXXX
   Component: E0221           002 0010

2 Faults Found:
00883 - Ignition Switch (D) Terminal S
012 - Electrical Fault in Circuit - Intermittent
01749 - Switch for Tiptronic in Steering Wheel (E439); Down
            008 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent

Anyone got any more detail as to what could be wrong? Obviously they say what it is but what is the usual fixes for these problems?

And if anyone on here recognises the car or has any idea who may have owned it before Harrogate VW got it I would love to have a chat with them!

Cheers all.

Hi Jonneh,
Apart from  DSG and reg number my ed30 is the same as yours, fully specced too, good choice matey!
Have been thinking of fitting drl's, interested to know how yours are working, " yank" spec? How do you do this using vcds?
Good luck with your future mods, I wait with interest! I won't play around with performance, got plenty of that!...just cosmetic stuff for me!

Nice one mate!
You don't need to fit any drls. You just use vcds to code the american/canadian light spec in. Basically it turns the indicator on at a lower light and they come on with your sidelights/headlights. You set the percentage brightness and then when you signal they flash in the normal way.

There is always more performance though! Haha. Can't help myself!

Anyone got any ideas on what needs to be fixed to sort those faults from vcds?

They're nice indeed! Coming off soon to get a refurb, going to go with an anthracite finish as at the moment they're very silver.

Cheers bud.

Haha! I'm sure you can find one like it!  :drinking:

Yes please mate if you could! I'm hoping I can find out so I can try and look into what software and stage it is! As 305bhp from a Stage 1 seems high to me.

As for the winters, here they are, not dissimilar to the usual wheels to be honest!

Audi 17s, 17x7.5 and ET 45. So should sit very normally. Going to go for 225/45/17 tyres but just not decided on brand yet! Nokian are at the top of the list for the money, I have a feeling finding them in stock is going to be interesting!
