According to the 2007 sales brochure , why does the ED30 weigh more than the same year gti ?
1328kg vs 1357kg ?
Whats the difference

Bigger Turbo for one

Bigger Turbo for one
Thats 500g of it where is the rest ?
-
Electric seats
-
Higher spec level, as mentioned electric seats, other nice little things, the wheels may be slightly heavier (the Pescaras)
-
I'd also say that is an ED30 with Pescara's compared to a GTI with Monza's
-
It will more than likely be a combination of a lot of different parts.
Half leather seats vs fabric (possibly) + electric lumbar as standard (as above)
Slightly bigger turbo (as above)
DV relocation associated bracketry and hoses
uprated engine internals (more than likely slightly heavier)
18" wheels opposed to 17" (Monza)
Through the lifecycle of the car alot of refinements will be made such as additional sound deadening to improve the comfort. The standard GTI might have been weighed before such parts were fitted. Initial production possibly started in 2002-2003, whereas the ED30 was much later.
The GVW for the standard GTI will more than likely be the base spec with no options fitted. Gives a better figure!

Older, fatter owners.

Red stitching must heavy
Deeper front splitter is about 0.5kg too

The numbered plaque
-
The extra weight must come from those extra ponies lol.
-
I heard its due to the extra peace of mind that it's faster than an R32......
..... Or is it?
