Title: Quick Sat Nav question:
Post by: Tarmac_Terrorist on September 04, 2009, 07:50:11 pm
Can anyone tell me how to stop the radio when the VW sat nav is in operation (latest model).
My dad has just bought a MKVI and is about to go on hols tomorrow in it, managed to program the sat nav but can't turn the radio off but have the sat nav on!
I'm not that familiar with the model so simple instructions pretty please  :happy2:

Just turn the volume down as the nav voice is independently controlled from the radio and other sources  :happy2:

Yeah I had this issue the first time I 'properly' used the RNS510. Did trial runs with the satnav before and it was fine, but that's because I knew where I was going and the music wasn't too loud. But when I used it for real, missed a turn off because I couldn't hear the satnav voice over the music.

Dunno which unit you have but you should be able to:
- turn down the volume of the radio
- turn up the volume of the satnav voice (turn the volume up when the satnav is speaking; if not speaking you can press the button for the last instructions).
- in the menu, there's an option to determine how much the music is turned down when the satnav is speaking (just low/med/high options)

when your using the nav press the map button again and it will go into split screen,  when you are navigating to an adress the split screen will show you in detail the turn offs and  time/distance to the next turn off, also on m/ways it will come up with the split roads, If you already new this then sorry but I didn't and the last time I saw a sat nav this good was my old pioneer x1r.
