The guy claims to be called David Barrow and in the RAF and to have been re-posted to Scotland. He wanted to use paypoint and paysafe cards to send him the money and they would deliver it to you. Once your happy you send the money then all is sorted. I thought it seemed genuine. I asked some lads on another forum to do some digging and they un-earthed this.

Thanks for the heads up.
Gumtree is full of scammers. No way of tracking down a seller on there just in case a transaction goes wrong.

Someone has already done that on the other thread. He's not.

Thats not correct and i would say gumtree is more helpful in investigations than Ebay :innocent:

But anyone can make an account and sell things, theres no feedback system so you cant really see if someone is a good seller or not.
A year ago someone in my area got stabbed as he was going to see a car for sale advertised on gumtree and they took 3 grand off him.
Not sure if gumtree has changed since then but it is risky.
I got scammed on ebay a few months back and ebay and paypal were really helpful in getting my money back :)
