As the title says, Is Iron X worth it?
I am planning on a full detail of my Eddy: Clay, Polish, Seal and wax. My car is pretty clean as it is and am wondering if applying Iron x will benefit the finish?
I have de-tared it and not noticed any other nasty's bound to the paint!
:happy2:
-
You'd be surprised mate , just because you can't see the iron fallout doesn't mean it's not there - i was really surprised the first time I used iron-x 2 years ago ! Give it a go for part of the decontamination process when it comes round to your next major detail of your car
-
Certainly worth it on wheels, made such a difference :happy2:
-
Angel wax do some which is basically the same and just as good, its available from : http://www.brotek.co.uk/the-detailing-barn.html (http://www.brotek.co.uk/the-detailing-barn.html)
and if your going to try that try some of there instant detailer its brilliant stuff
-
Use Iron X - it's the original Iron remover and the best overall in my opinion - I've used 3 or 4 different products all of the same.
Be aware some do not change to purple on removal of iron. Some change purple when in contact with the air so be aware of that..
-
brilliant product...nuff said.. :happy2:
-
Its a really good product - it stinks to high heaven and stains your drive, but its good stuff

Iron X has a new NS version - Lemon scent.
-

^ This :happy2:.
Well worth it though. Should make claying easier if you use it on the bodywork.
-
Yes! Just smells really bad haha
-
Iron-X has been used on brand new cars due to fallout present through transport.

Again i would speak to bro-tek on that as a few people have used the same forumla and just changed the name

Iron X is made by CarPro. I do not believe that CarPro sell this to other manufacturers for rebottling. I am well aware of this.
Some other brands are also rebottled things. Angelwax make a popular one that is re-used by at least 2 "boutique" brands (which I will not share -f ind out for yourself).
Bilt Hambers KERROSOL stuff is their own.
-
I find that iron remover makes claying a much easier process.
-
Can't recommend this stuff highly enough!!

Iron X is amazing but be sure to avoid getting it in direct contact with painted calipers as it can affect the finish and dull the colour of them. Preferably remove the wheel completely to treat.

I agree phil.make sure you get all of the product off as it will stain, for instance i had an ep3 with white volks and did the wheels with it but didnt get all of the iron-x off in the stud holes and it did actually stain them in the corners where it gathered..i tried everything to get it off,did try my hardest with various chemicals and polishes but you could just see it still.
So my advice is its an amazing product but make sure you rinse thoroughly with water after..
-
Yes definitely worth it
-
Used today on my wife's fabia,
Amazing!
-
I was going to buy Iron X but instead opted for Dragon's Breath by Valet Pro. Not tried it yet as it literally came this morning.
I hope it is as good because it smells with what I can only describe as the sludge and stagnant water you find in a shower trap.

dragons breath is a very good product for alloys I have never had to go near any alloys with a brush with it and I done a Nissan that was very heavily contaminated that even tardis or wonder wheels would not shift

Iron X smells like it does because that's the smell of the chemical which dissolves the iron into a soluble solution.
Iron X cherry does not smell BAD but it's hardly pleasant.
Iron X LS (lemon scent) has no negative smell.
-
Auto finesse do Iron out, basically the same, but in a large bottle, must work as it gets all the iron off my lungs if I inhale it!
And well priced too :happy2:
-
Would u use a product like Iron X on Gloss painted alloys??
-
If only Zaino did iron fallout removal products.......
Iron x is safe on all paint finishes including bare/polished wheels.

You know Auto Finesse buy it from another company (Believe it to be Angel wax for half the price) and rebottle it and sell it for double?
I'd rather stick with Iron X - original and the best to be honest. Better than iron out as I bought it!
-
If you want to avoid  smell, there is a wax tec one called fall off V2 which I've used on mine and does the job well, pretty good price as well. :happy2:
-
Wouldn't clean a car without it now!

The reason that Iron Removal products smell is because of the chemicals required.
You can't have a full on Iron removal product and have it smelling nice.
What do you want, a product which smells nice or a product that works well? I've not used Wax tec personally but I would like to see what's left by going over it with Iron x...
:ashamed:

-
Never used this stuff do you just spray all over the car then was it off sorry to sound a t**t lol

Use it once you have washed and rinsed car (don't dry car) then spray iron x all over the car give it a few mins but don't let it dry then just give it a really good rinse off. That's it as far as iron x is concerned.

WHEELS: Clean and fully dry wheels before adding iron-x, wash off before it dries.
CAR: Clean and pat dry (best way to stop adding swirl marks) and then add iron-x, wash off before it dries.
Key things: DO NOT allow iron-x to dry. Putting it on a dry car and wheels means that it will not dilute further. Also, if you add it to a wet car/wheels, more of the product runs off before it's able to react and do it's job.
Hope this helps.
-
Would it be ok to say wash the car then give it a blast up the road to get the majority of the water off then spray it on
-

Sure helps me matey, so it doesn't need to be bone dry just a quick pat dry around the car will be enough before spraying iron x? I've only used it the once and only on the paint not the wheels, this stuff pretty new to me.
-
As long as majority of water is removed, that's ok. Wheels (where majority of iron will be) need to be dry so that the product will work at its maximum (undiluted and clings to the wheels surface).
-
Might have to get some to try.. Where do you guys tend to purchase all your detailing needs.
-
I generally get my kit from i4detailing or cleanyourcar.
Get yourself over to detailingworld too, but trust me, it WILL get expensive ;0)
-
Be very careful what you read on Detailing World. Most people on there will lead you down the path of brand snobbery or pointless procedures.
-
Car chem revolt is also an excellent product. They often put deals on where you can pick up some bargains. They produce all their own stuff aswell
-
Ace stuff I use it all the time on a Detail dont smell good though.
-
Yeah it's good but the cherry one absolutely stinks.
Wear rubber gloves i do.
-
Great stuff... Also used tardis at the same time with it. No chance of swirl marks like clay bar can cause with this
-
I love this stuff :happy2:
especially owning a candy white GTI it gets rid of the embedded fallout with ease
Definately worth it and yeah it bloody reeks and I find the triggers don't last long on the bottle iron x tends to wreck them
So to combat this after I use it I take the trigger out and squirt a load of water through it to extend the life of the trigger couldn't recommend this enough though
-
Quality stuff.. Highly recommended;
-

Clay would still need to be used as often iron x and tardis won't remove all the bonded contamination such as overspray and tree sap.
-
Brilliant stuff but the cherry one smells like death!
-

They all smell this is because the chemical used to turn the iron into a water soluble substance..
just don't take a big whiff of it ..
-
Too late haha opened it at work in the office and had some funny looks off the customers
-
Wear rubber gloves.
This ^.
