Title: upgrading to a alpine headunit/satnav etc

have the mfd2 at the moment and I fancy an alpine (not interested in keeping with any vw unit - alpines have every thing I want) any one know if I need any thing special to do this? like a canbus box etc?

when I got my ines900r fitted I just needed the aeriel adaptor
