V-power.
Tesco 99 is 2nd best.
Tesco run with loads of additives.
-
Tesco fuel is sold as "supermarket grade" and much of it is produced in the Petroplus Coryton Refinery, usually sold by Greenergy and normally delivered by TDG Chemicals. It doesn't have any additives like V-Power for example but it is a biofueland cosnidered by many to be an inferor quality fuel. Shell V-Power, BP Ultimate, Esso SUL are all pretty much the same but with different anti friction/cleaning additives. You wouldn't really notice any short term effects regarding these, you would definately notice in the long term though, which is why I belong to the V-Power club :happy2:
You pays your money you take your choice.

I was under the impression reading on t'other forum that its shell that has the Bio additives and not tesco's.

from reply 21 and a link to results of these fuels being tested.
Not taken this as gospel but an interesting read. :happy2:

Shell V Power or Tesco 99 Super Unleaded, Which is best?
Shouldn't that be "which is better"??
-
V-Power club member here :happy2: Car's mapped on it
same here got £7.50 voucher yesterday for my loyalty too :signLOL:
just because one company (thorney motorsport) rates the tesco fuel doesnt make it the best. :scared:
-
generally shell v-power is the better choice, but for me i'm at tesco pumps more with the club card points
-
I was a v power man for 2.5 years until tesco 99 became available. I prefer tesco as it feels smoother and more more powerful at low rev's, both before and after map. When I put vpower in and then go back to tesco 99 I can definately feel an improvement.
I've also noticed that all the fuel tests I've read, tesco 99 produced slightly more power and torque.
-
I am a Tescos 99 man and have been with all my cars, and its a very good performer.
-
Im trying V-power to see it will cure my sometimes erratic ignition timing from my recent data logs after my Remap was installed.
Been advised to go onto V-power.
-
When i went for my remap Kev (the guy from revo hq) was telling me that tesco 99 was not as good as V-power as it was made up of normal petrol with loads of additves and V-power is the best as it is produced to a higher standard and much more consistant octane rating, He also told me to stay away from bp ultimate as most of the time you pay a premium for standard 95 ron petrol.
-
I stick to V-power (though occasionally run BP Ultimate through for the cleaning additives).
-
i run v power 95% of the time. but when im in devon i have to run it on bp as thats the only petrol station that sells super down there :(
-
i only use v power but tried tesco and have found it better as the car picks up faster.vpower is better as it just lasts longer than the tesco brand.esso super is not too great but i do think the tesco fuel made more power low down in my gti you do see the difference but the v power will last longer evan if u push the pedals as much as u are using the vpower.
-
What do you mean by 'vpower will last longer'??!!
I have been using vpower, but decided to try T99 for the last 2 tanks or so.
Im seeing the same mpg as I did with vpower.
-
V-power all the way for me. :happy2:
-
I see the same mpg too !
The only difference is really subjective - and these threads go on and on because everyone has a different view
I had my car running on V Power and it rolling roaded on Superchips rollers - it made 295bhp. A month later of using Tesco 99 (and 1K miles later) it made 299 on the same rollers ...... down to the petrol ? or just a different day ? (no matter what 'correction' done by the rolling road) or even the fact it had done another 1,000 miles ?? Who knows. Both are good but V Power costs more !
I am going to resist the urge to put my subjective view of which feels quicker in my car (though I have previously )

How much is V power? I can't get it my way, always used Tesco 99 but it's 1.12p/ltr now!

About the same round here (Berkshire/Hampsire) - varies between 1.12 -1.14 at the moment.

I love tesco 99 but cant allways get it where i live (in the sticks)

my car was very low on fuel one day and i only put £15 of vpower in. drove normally for the 3days to and from work only.i did the same using tesco super and it seemed to burn a little faster.i would say i got around 9 more miles with the vpower, untill the needle was very very low. in my car it lasts a little longer anyway, but i still think tesco super is better for performance!!
-
Just to add a bit more to this, I always run my car on Tesco 99 and occasionally V-Power, but when in Wales last week all I could get in was BP Ultimate. After 1/2 tank, under full acceleration, I noticed it surging a bit, still quick, but not as smooth. Once the tank was empty, I refilled with Tesco 99, and 50 miles or so later, good as gold again :happy2:
-
I'm on my 3rd or 4th tank of Tesco 99 now, and have to say the car feels quite lively low down, and seems to have got better after each tank.
Can't really compare mpg figures as this is the only fuel I've used since getting the car 3 weeks ago, however it's a lot less than I was getting in my diesel 3 series!!! :surprised:
Lovin' the GTi experience though!
-
V POWER all the way, cars mapped for it and doesnt have a drop of anything else ! my second choice and if im desperate , i stick a 5er of tesco 99 in

My car likes v power better than the tesco stuff too. That day my car dyno'd lower power on stage 1 on the same rollers it was running tesco 99.
