Title: Wheel Adapters?

Im slightly confused, Ive bought another set of wheels for my golf (FINAL SET). The pcd is 4x100. I know that fk sell adapters for our platform. I know this is probably simple but should I be ordering 4 x 100 to 5 x 112 or 5 x 112 to 4 x100? Is there a difference? I know the adapters can have built in spigot rings that can cause a slight lip which can be an issue with they arrangement order .
