Just off the M42 Junc 4, A34. You'll see it on the right as you head into Shirley. You'll need to go to the second RA and come back on yourself

You can then follow me to Weston as I know exactly where it is  :happy2:

They look much better darker....

Quick idea. What about having them black with a white or red lining along the lip? A bit like your GTi rims?

Looking good Nath!

I don't think you'll have too many problem with the plate.

What colour are you going to paint the vinyl, or is this going to be kept as a suprise?! Really good plan to go with the matte - it gives a nice contrast to the gloss black of the rest of the car! I think sometimes on a black car the lovely gloss front grille can get a little lost!

Did you see that other thread in the MK5 Chat section (think it was entitled "milltek"), where that guy had painted his exhaust surround red.....would look great on yours!

Chris.

No spacers needed this time as the ET is 44 so they fill the arches much more compared with the Pescara/MonzaII.

Yeah the backdoor pilot is okay. The first few eps are a bit crap but some of the later ones are brilliant, especially after the re-tooling.

That was one of the problems with keeping the MK2, we converted 3 1/4's of the garage a couple of years ago to create a dowstairs WC and Utility! House is on the market and double Garage is Numero Uno priority!

That was one of the problems with keeping the MK2, we converted 3 1/4's of the garage a couple of years ago to create a dowstairs WC and Utility! House is on the market and double Garage is Numero Uno priority!

Does that mean we'll be pushed for space if we seat swap at your end?  :scared:

Oh bugger, I managed to avoid meeting Robin while he was at Tyresmoke because I knew once he was within a few feet of me, the evil Modding Spell would be cast on me and I'd be forever sliding into the pit of Modding Hell and Damnation

Just think on it guys, any of you that have this strange compulsion to spend loads of money on your GTi, I bet you've been too close to R.R at some point.

....You're not wrong: In the Middle Ages, Robin was a common name for The Devil. And mythic historians have associated him with the Teutonic elf Hodekin, Woden (the Germanic Odin) and the sprite or hobgoblin known as Robin Goodfellow, sometimes called Puck.

Finally got the chance to fit the OSIR CF front mask today and I'm less than impressed after trying to fit!  :sad1:

From what I can work out the thing is just to big and as a consequence it has cracked on the lower left edge and is bowing outwards!  :angry015:

Im hoping the TT shop will sort this as the reason I went with them and not a fleabay copy was to avoid this kind of problem.

Anyway its on and looks good on the pics!  :happy2: Got the Dodo Juice Supernatural out and gave her a coat, and have tucked her away ready for the RR day @ SC next week!  :happy2:

Sorry to hear this, Nath - Get hold of Justin at TTshop asap. I rejected part of my last OSIR order and it was replaced without a problem.

I got TTshop to fix my CF nose mask - I don't do anything myself - I'd rather someone else who knows what they're doing takes the responsibility.

I tried today but was told they had an open day! Explained I could do with a 2 min conversation but no call back!  :sad1:

The mask has been bonded to my front grille so I doubt very much they can be parted again! Plus we waited three months for these ones!  :chicken:

Stunning car Greenhouse....testiment to your efforts.

I haven't seen your mods all the way through but a couple of questions...

What suspension are you running?

If just springs has it effected ride quality and improved handling as I am considering KW's for my Ed 30.

What size are your wheels....ie are they standard CH's in 8.5 x 18's for MK5 or do you run spacers?

Have you mapped it?

I'm considering APR mapping, KW's and some Tarox brakes (12Pots).

Did you keep you Pescara's?

Stunning body work using Dodo products....I use Zymol which I find is very good but time consuming.

The Ed 30 was choosen over an E46 M3/Evo MR340 and an R26R Megane as the Golf did everything I needed.

Hey Ian, thanks for the kind coments!  :happy2:

The car has Eibach Sportline springs, I haven't really felt any difference in the ride 'comfort' if you can call it that!

The wheels have a 44 offset and as such they sit nicely in the arches over the Pescara's. I have ran 10mm spacers with my black huffs.
Car is Bluefin ST2 with a TB Milltek non-res and I love it!

Sold the Pescara's the first week I owned her.

Cheers  :happy2:

Just found this nath,

car looks stunning as everyone else has said, just a shame about the OSIR grill  :sad1: im not buying any OSIR stuff anymore as none of it ever fits perfect! as i mentioned i got mine (ebay copy) and it fits perfect, is 100% carbon and only cost 70 quids (i think there about 150 now) but seriously undersatisfied with OSIR.

What did the TTShop say? did they ever ring you back?

PS im not parking my car near yours tomorrow  :P

:signLOL: Cheers Joe, don't worry about parking next to me as we may all look the same, wet!

We (SteveP and I) did contemplate the E-bay jobbies but being only around a third less than the OSIR one we didn't want to take the gamble. I think you fell lucky with yours. The good thing with having the OSIR one is I have the TT shop to fall back on and so far they are being very fair and are concerned at with the problems I have had.

I will report on my progress!

Well as it's been 5 months since I last updated so thought I better make the effort!  :pomppomp:

Now the .:R has gone I thought I would treat the ED as she's been a bit neglected the last few months...............

Quick refresher pic from Edition38 and Tatton Park................

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fkk284%2FGreenouse%2FP9060111.jpg&hash=f00ea39ffbe710ab2ea2f9116aa86543c6038432)

With the 2nd Ring trip of the year looming I took the oppurtunity to address the ride height issue I have had with the car and to hopefully improve the ride comfort.

Before:

A quick dose of these (AP coilovers):
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fkk284%2FGreenouse%2FP9280016.jpg&hash=2496c821653896d0e296ad7c8c65e2e107d911ea)

Resulted in this:

Really impressed with these coilovers so far, the ride has been up and down a few times as I haven't yet found my perfect ride height. Big thanks to Steve and the 'Broom of Doom' while we were at the Ring!

Next up was the obligatory BSH catch can and while I was @ VWR I had a set of fast road pads to help me out on track until I can locate me an S3/Cupra set up!  :happy2:

So that brings us up to today and a big thanks (again) the the Boss man for his assistance in fitting my new ITG CAI!

It really is a quality piece of kit and I can more than see where they get the price for these things from as they are superbly engineered. Great sound to!

I returned home then to seal and wax my freshly painted VZ's, a slight altercation with the kerb on the Chunnel back in June resulted in this,  :sad1:

my new ITG CAI.
Without rereading the entire thread, what did you have before and how much of a difference has the ITG CAI made?

But they now look like this!
Simply gorgeous mate, though I still think you should have kept the red-lipped Monzas - it's just too strongly associated with your car!

Heard good things and fantastic value for money! :happy2:

my new ITG CAI.

Just had a CF intake (Carbonio Type) and K&N air filter. The difference so far has been really noticeable but haven't really had chance to open her up to much.

Awesome mate,  real credit to you, so much hard work and care and thought has gone into that car,in every decision/alteration youve made.
It inspires me and no doubt others to try and create something to that standard.

My favorite on this site, by a country mile.

PS I absolutely love the frikkin GTI decals. They fit beautifully with the theme of the car. Completely jealous.

PPS the bit of the sill where the GTI decals are - is it perfectly flat on your car? Just noticed they're 'bumpy' on mine.

Yep well done for spotting it Stealth!  :happy2:

Fancied doing something different, was going to put different colours on the same side but decided against!  :happy2:

That sill section isn't perfectly flat and you can notice a slight bump in certain lights.

Completely agree. Red lip + red lipped rims have been characteristic of your car, which is why the new look surprised me and I wasn't a fan. But looking at it now, your car is still the dog's danglies!
Fancied doing something different, was going to put different colours on the same side but decided against!  :happy2:
I'm torn in two. The red caps work with the red accents on the car but the black caps just give a completely different (but positive) spin to the car. Are you gonna choose or just keep it half'n'half?
That sill section isn't perfectly flat and you can notice a slight bump in certain lights.
Thanks for that! Thought it was normal but wasn't completely sure.

After seeing Nousey's lip, I thought about a red lip but figured it was too 'copycat'. Silver IMO wouldn't look right unless it matches something else (like the rims). I'm still thinking about a chrome look.

Quick update:

As a few of you know I have been contemplating a brake upgrade for some time now! A regular set of calipers and discs just wouldn't have done so I enlisted the help of our very own DaveB who has come up with a perfect upgrade for me. So as well as the added stopping power they are in-keeping with my Red/Black look!  :happy2:

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2FGreenouse%2FWheels%2FPB220078.jpg&hash=276343e6f646ac9fd39f8896b6d923ca7b52e8ff)

Uprated pads at the front, drilled discs all round and Brembo braided hoses should scrub the speed off when required!  :driver:

They will be fitted tomorrow so I'll post some pics up over the weekend!

I think as you are struggling with the brakes I will kindly take the rears off you if you decide to sell them.

Obviously as they are now second-hand that will be reflected in the price so I'll give you £50 how does that sound.

On a more serious note I hope you get them sorted.

Is the clutch OEM or uprated?

Your like a bunch of old women!

And your all wrong!  :booty:  Had a great day @ VWR as me PG and Uncle Knob Head took the place over for the day!!

To address the various questions............................

The brakes are a lot better but theres still room for improvement, will sort those at a later date. The clutch for the moment is fine, short and tall of it being, I have had the DMF replaced under warranty and there was fitment issues with the SACHS uprated clutch plate. This is being looked into as we speak but the good news is I have no slip after having the new DMF.  :happy2:

So to today, I have had.....

A VWR Milltek back box. This is the unit with the smaller back box as fitted to the VWR race cars. SteveP had one fitted to his car and we did a deal to swap, as it happened there was a problem with his BB so I received a brand spanker today and it sounds   with my non res DP!!

We also fitted a set of xenon headlights and Cruise control!   (Thanks Dave and Steve!)

I have also bought Steve's THS IC and this will be fitted at a later date. Already have a pump and CAI so nearly there on the performance front.  :happy2:

Pics to follow at the weekend!  :happy2:

Nousey, you often seem to keep raising the bar in terms of looks. Highly impressive.

You went with the red BBS caps all round then?

Love the brake and wheel shots

Most of all, highly impressed with how clean the rear section looks even though it's usually hidden from view. Shows immense attention to detail, OCD boy!

That red rear stripe - paint or vinyl?

There's a lot of originality in what you do, Nath  :notworthy: - You get my vote as the best looking black GTI on the forum (and TC's the best white).

Looks-wise, take care not to gild the lily (No! Not Lily Allen).

^^^ Nothing noticeable on performance, and cost is about the same.

The differences are the tailpipes (engraved R logo on the top) and the backbox is slightly slimmer so it sounds a bit better  :happy2:

Nousey, your car always looks outstanding. Makes VXR marc's second-rate in comparison. Just love the way the red is enhanced by things like the rims and the front mask! Even the bra helps accent the red.

Think I'd better go scrub my car!
