Hi everyone

Not done much on the 30 just been enjoying it

A friend at work told me my window was open about an inch and it was going to rain so I proudly told him if it rains it will close its self about half an hour later hail stones he was laughing saying better hope it works when I finished my shift it was closed up and bone dry

Today I test fitted the mk6 climatronic panel all working now only the sensor errors so I will order the trim and sensor bits so no errors on vcds  :happy2:

bought the unit used from ebay for 50 quid
a new genuine trim think it was 30 pound
found a breakers with the air quality sensor, bracket and wiring plug he cut me enough loom for me to solder the wires to make them longer £25 delivered from a gtd mk6 golf
then I had to swap a few pins over and basic reset the climate control
hardest bit was fitting the air quality sensor had to remove wipers and scuttle tray  :happy2:

after the wheel refurb I fitted new tyres to the rear and rear tyres to the front and OMG the front end would slide in a corner and the traction control would apply the brakes mid corner talk about scary

they was the original tyres for the car and well out of date my friend said the rubber had gone hard so check the dates on your rubbers lads don't want any accidents  :signLOL:

so 2 new tyres fitted to the front as well  :happy2:

all this happened the day before my trip to Germany Wolfsburg to the Autostadt and the vw museum I will start a new thread when I get time I have loads of piccys

@gixerben (http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php?action=profile;u=9443) as its a linear map its not kick you back in the seat power don't get me wrong it still puts you back but as you can see from the graphs it just keeps on going and going

Had other fellow k04 owners in the car and they have said they are surprised it still pulls hard right to the rev limiter

At pod in Jan best I could get was 13.6 q-mile but terminal speed was 112 mph it was like I had the handbrake on in first and second as temp's was 0 degrees

Still an awesome ED30 you own  :happy2:

What do you think to the b14 coilovers and is it a harsh ride? Roads near me are terrible which is why I ask the question

just sent a k04 turbo into beach buggy turbo's for an anti-surge wheel and a rebuild

Nice one

Is that because you blew up the old one or just wanted more power? What numbers you expecting once its done mate?
Title: Re: DANBOY66 Edition 30
Post by: DANBOY66 on October 30, 2015, 05:59:10 am
i am just getting a k04 rebuilt as it makes the swap easier nothing wrong with my turbo  i just did not want the car of the road :happy2:

the k04 suffers from surging so Niki has to map around it meaning i get a spike in power at 4k so with the anti surge he can now bring the power in a lot earlier

i want midrange / drive ability as thats where most power is used on a daily basis

figures who knows i would be very happy with 375/400

the b14's are quite harsh they are harder than the kw v1's i removed but when your having a little blast they are fantastic

i have decided 360/380 bhp is enough for me

this upgrade is not costing much at all i will fit it myself with the help from a few mates and i will sell my turbo to cover 90% of the cost of the out lay on the anti surge :happy2:

so today the turbo was fitted not done any logs yet but initial thoughts are its smoother and pulls consistently to the red line

i will send a log file over to Niki at R-Tech to make sure its safe and will be booking it in January for a little  map tweak and to find out what its now pushing

BIG BIG thanks to Bizz and our mate Matt for helping me install it

When you say cheap aerial, do you mean on of the ones that mounts in the windscreen? Retro fitting a OE DAB receiver would be a pain, but fit a reverse view camera at the same time perhaps..?

Yeah that's what I meant lol. So to clarify, you've said, that setting 3 is equivalent to setting 5 on the standard mk5 climate control? I only ask because I always keep mine on the highest setting when I use them and didn't want to upgrade if it messed around with my bum warmers lol

i have only owned golfs for the last 15 years so one eye is on a 6r but i did notice the ttrs's are getting cheaper  :surprised:

its going to take a few months to get rid of all my parts and the car so got plenty of time to decide

I also have all the stock parts in my garage

So no point I am in no rush it's going to take a few months to sort out

Sorry to read you're selling up, but looks as though you've had fun with the ED30 and taken it about as far as it can go!
Must admit, I love my ED30 but I have been thinking about something 4WD too. I can't justify it as I must buy a property before I am destined to rent forever, so it will remain a pipe dream for now...

Really not wanting to be a vulture, but I'd be interested in the DAB RNS510 if you'll be removing this from the car... I have an RNS version H if you'd be interested in a swap plus cash your way...

Just read the whole of this brilliant thread for the first time - like a car being born, going through teenage years becoming a legend, then retiring...  :sad1:

Stunning car. Love the colour coding between the centre caps and the front brakes  :happy2:

Where did you get the number plate from? It looks to be real metal, as opposed to the other ones you find.
