Title: Am I an idiot?
Post by: bbfb10 on October 21, 2013, 04:14:25 pm
Please dont laugh.

Im trying to install interior LED's in my mk5, l got as far as putting in the map/makeup lights (I did these first as I figured they would be easiest) got one in, no problems, second one went in; nothing. I know LED's only "work" in one directiom, so swapped it over, again nothing and now the other light doesnt work, nor do the centre lights in the head liner. Can anyone help? Could it be a fuse? I have no clue what Ive done wrong.

Please help.

Probably popped the 7.5A mini fuse in fusebox to the right of steering wheel.

Otherwise, those makeup lights only work with the mirror cover slid open and the visor in a certain position.

I blew the fuse myself.
Found it easier in the future to remove it before fitting and then refit to test.

From memory it's fuse #15 in the fuse box inside the car.

Open the drivers door, there is a D shaped panel that you prise off, the fuse for the interior lights is the only 7.5A one there and it is the smaller of the two sizes. It will be written on the side what Ampage it is. When you pull it out, if the U metal link has snapped on the fuse then it has popped, but if other interior lights are working then it won't be a fuse.

If that's the case, try a normal bulb and see if that works.
