Title: Too early for a service?
Post by: Panthera on October 22, 2013, 11:08:51 am
Morning all,

My GTi is on 60,700 ish miles and it is scheduled for a service at 62,111 (10,000 miles) and I was wondering if it was too early to get it booked in to be done in the next week or so. I do about 150 ish miles a week. Otherwise its going to be around Christmas time.

The last service was everything done, plugs, filters, oil, brake fluid done at VW and about 2 two weeks later the cambelt was done at Vag Tech.

So I think the next service is an 'interval service' aka oil and oil filter?

As long as the oil is topped up, it will be fine.  However, changing it sooner can't harm and is beneficial, esp. if your tuned + lead foot.  Get them to check the cam follower too. :happy2:

You know service intervals aren't set in stone? If you change your oil 2000 miles early no harm would be caused.

Yes, the oil is constantly checked/topped up. I know changing oil more than is required in the service schedule is a good thing.
