Title: Anyone running 16's on something like a 45 profile tyre
Post by: TomRmk5 on October 22, 2013, 08:14:41 pm
Just wondering if anyone is running 16's on a 45 profile tyre? and if anyone has any pics to see what it looks like or has seen any pics? in terms of arch gap

Why low profile? It will knock your speedo out

These are all similar:

205/55/16
225/45/17
225/40/18

As said a low pro 16" would be massively out.

If you are set on having a 45 ratio tyre fitted onto a 16" wheel you would need to go with something wildly big like a 245 or 255/45/R16 to maintain the rolling radius of the original wheel (shown below), and to keep your speedometer anywhere near showing the right speed.

I get the impression you won't want to fit incredibly wide tyres (not sure if 255 width tyres would fit a Mk5). As daft as my suggestion sounds, running a 45 ratio tyre on a 16" wheel is equally not clever.  :stupid:
