What is everyone's favourite car sound? For example, straight six, N/A on throttle bodies, screaming V10?
For me it's V6 Turbo, here's two videos to illustrate:
Nissan GTR - this one is a standard car, I never realised how good they sound out of the box!
=1m15s
R32 Turbo with screamer pipe - This also sounds amazing
=10s
Second to V6 Turbo would be a WRC car (with the old 2.0), being stood in the welsh forest, hearing the anti lag echo across the valley as they descend on your position is just unreal
What's yours?

think the r32 is a bit much for me..

I drove a decatted S4 for a few days with the V8 4.2 engine,sounded like pure sex

McRae's works Impreza 555 in 1995 on the RAC Rally.
Me and my Dad went and watched the rally. Watching on Hafren Sweet Lamb in Wales which was a big stage at the time.
The Scooby on full on Colin 'maximum attack' and sounded superb - emphasised by it being nearly dark.
If I recall correctly he took a massive chunk of time out of Sainz (his team mate) on the stage and took the lead of the rally.
Next day he won his World title.

The low rumble of Mercc CL63AMG V8 is a sound I could listen to all day.
When the missus and I were at the F1 last year we both came to the conclusion that the best sounding car on the track was the C63 AMG estate...it even sounded better than the GT3.
-
Lexus LFA nothing comes close to sounding that good!
-
C63 AMG is pretty nice and the old Celica GT4 rally cars were immense, cracking back fire.
I had a Nova SR with a Peco big bore on that you could literally hear coming for miles, my mates still talk about it now.
-
I have to admit that a V6 has a certain appeal as well.
When I were a lad, there was a bloke who had a custom MK2 Cortina kitted out with a cologne V6 and no silencers, just a straight through set of pipes-IIRC they were something like 3inch bore.I remember him telling me he used scaffold tubes....
You could hear that car from just about everywhere, especially when it was on throttle. :happy2:
One of the guys I work with had a Vectra V6 with some sort of sports exhaust fitted. It was a nice sound but a sh*t car!
-
quite like this, v10 m3 :)

This... I remember watching McRae's 555 Impreza waaay back (can't remember the year), in Clocaenog Forest, North Wales...... it's back there for the first time in an age next month. Got some pics somewhere, but they are pre-digital!!
