Title: How old is my rns 510 ??
Post by: Mk5jake on October 28, 2013, 07:24:14 pm
Hello, I have an addition 30 with the vw rns 510 installed by a previous owner, is there any way to tell if it's an early rns unit or a more recent unit ?

Sorry if that dident make sense but any help would be much appreciated

Thanks.

if you don't have a star button but an "i"nformation button you know you have an A or B version.

think you can access a secret menu with required details coming up but not 100% sure but someone will be along soon to confirm.

the secret menu isnt always reliable as some of the firmware changes what it says, for example mine is a C, but says D in the secret menu

the fastest way to tell is to take the stereo out and there will be a sticker on the side with its part number on

Keep the setup button pressed for about 30 sec and it should appear. If it doesn't then you may need someone with a vcds cable to enable it.
