Title: A re-map has fixed all of my DSG issues
Post by: vaheedakhtar on October 28, 2013, 09:24:28 pm

I'm glad and relieved. My DSG 'box was never like I had read it to be. It was never wrong, like I read it to be. It was just odd. The gear changes in manual mode always worked. It wasn't too jerky at low speeds. It didn't kangaroo hop every where. Just odd. It would always jerk, when tapping the accelerator at motorways speeds. It would also jerk if I was holding the revs in 2nd/3rd/4th at anything above 2,000rpm. It wouldn't ever change down as quickly as I wanted it to...but only on some days. I did think about having the parameters reset - but then always thought the car was slightly quicker than what a 200hp GTI should be.

I bought a superchips bluefin unit last week and when they sent the new map, they confirmed that the car had been (very poorly) tampered with by the ex owner. They said they had adjusted 2 basic parameters, which would cause poor power delivery (correct!) and poor economy (also correct!) - The fuel economy, in comparison to VW's claims, was poor, however, I was still managing around 28mpg on mixed town/duel carriageways speeds.

Once the map was on, I noticed straight away how much smoother the gearchanges were. They were also bang on the money in terms of timing. The jerkyness of the mid range revs and motorway cruising speeds has also disappeared. On top of all this, the car's power delivery is allot more linear and it seems to have bags more Ib's of torque. And, unlike before, not just in one big lumb - they're spread across the whole of the rev range (up to 7,000rpm now!)

So, I'm not only happy, but also relieved that it's not a problem with my gearbox. Superchips have also loaded a original VW spec map to my device to help me compare the before's and afters. Next is a new DV, just incase there's some ponies escaping - and to have the pre-cat deleted.  :happy2:

Oh, my average fuel economy for the same journey's as normal has increased by around 5mpg.  :congrats:

Great news, it's just a shame Bluefins remap power delivery wasn't as smooth as your gear changes are :signLOL:

Ex bluefin owner here  :innocent:

Glad it's all appears sorted  :happy2:

I'm happy for you bud, theres nothing like having an issue you're not sure whats causing it and you can't seem to fix it!

however i would have changed the DV before the map personally to make sure i was getting 100% boost.

hope you enjoy your now smooth gear change as it should be!

Glad to hear of your good result. I have a bluefin myself with a DSG and am very pleased with it.  :happy2:
