Title: Buying used bluefin
Post by: tommy2478 on October 29, 2013, 10:35:00 am
I no there are lots of threads on this but I cannot find my direct answer..
I have an 07 gti, I have just brought a bluefin with already a mk5 gti map installed on it .. Therefore being the same. So is it ok just to plug this now straight into my car or do I have to have it re set ??   :driver:

IIRC, as long as the previous owner reverted his car back to standard using the handheld, then you can use the Bluefin device on a new car.

What I would do is download the software from http://www.mybluefin.co.uk/s/software, hook up the Bluefin to the PC and try and register the device for your car and go from there. :happy2:  It may need resetting by Bluefin.

Right i plugged into my computer lauched the software and it said map already installed.... So im not sure what to do whether to install it in the car or not as im not sure it will save my map from the car onto it ??

Quite handy i did get it today though as my car decided to rev it self for some strange reason think my coupler from the induction kit had come loose as it threw up some codes for the MAF and idle, checked hoses couldn't find anything wrong but tightened it all up and its stopped doing it, so cleared the codes using bluefin and took it for a run to see if they came back :) nope all gone..... :scared:

Is it defo for a golf as they only go to certain cars I know it sounds mad but if it's been on another car before it won't work on yours you need to get it reset by bkuefin at 220 and they record the vin number too

I definitely needs reset

If I plug mine into my mates car for diagnostics it still comes up and says bluefin installed.

If it was reset it would ask to start downloading the file for your car rather than saying bluefin installed.

For anyone buying a bluefin second hand I would recommend getting the serial no and sending superchips an email asking if it has been reset and if it will be comparable with your car
