Title: chirp chirp
Post by: Stanipkiss on October 30, 2013, 10:28:57 pm
Totally random but my chirp has stopped when I unlock and lock my car, I think it may be the siren.

Would anyone know any of the following:

What the part number of the siren is?
Where the siren is?
How difficult is it to replace?

Thanks in advance

Scan the car see if there are any faults
Check to see if it the alarm sounds.

Done that Jay and there is a fault and probably replacement siren needed.
Need to know part number and where it is to change it.

This.. you can activate it within the VCDS menus... suggesting that you've had it switched on previously, so yes, most likely the siren has gone.  A scan would reveal this.
IIRC, the siren is located in the drivers side wheel arch, take the arch lining out and you'll see it mounted up and to the rear of the OS wheel arch, it will need "encouraging" out, I replaced mine for £30 off ebay and used a series of small cables ties (6 in all over 2 holes) which made it very secure (18 months ago now, and good).

Part number: 1K0 951 605C

Thanks Scottyman, do you know if the part number ending in D would be a later model part?
As there are no C parts on ebay only D!!

Probably be ok bud, and some sort of revision:

There's one C: link (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AUDI-A4-B7-A6-C6-VW-PASSAT-B6-ELECTRONIC-ALARM-SIREN-1K0951605C-1K0-951-605-C-/370927281577?pt=UK_Car_Accessories_Safety_Security&hash=item565cfd25a9)

but I'd go with a D variant, esp. if it's cheaper and specified to fit. :happy2:

In the early models 04 you had to have a matching contact housing block so like for like if you don't want any possible issues.

1k0 951 605 D replaced by 1k0 951 60 C according to ETKA 7.4

Price new at TPS £119.41 full retail inc vat.

Thanks doylebros, according to my local stealers there is no such part as the D version and the C part is gonna set me back £122 inc Vat.
Got a used C version from ebay on the way, I will update when I get round to fitting it.
