Title: Stage 2 required mods
Post by: Edition_slim on October 31, 2013, 09:38:12 am
I want to go Stage 2 on my edition 30 next year (probably Revo)
I currently have a bluefin stage 1, milltek res cat back system and an ITG intake.
I know I'll need a down pipe and either decat or sports cat, but will I need anything else to support the stage 2?
Thanks

I emailed R-tech about mapping and they replied with this:

For stage 2 tuning you will need:
Good quality cold air induction kit or Panel filter
Full turbo back exhaust with 100cell or de cat
Front mount intercooler
OEM ‘G’ Revision diverter valve
Nology Spark Plugs

Have you already upgraded brakes, suspension etc.

The problem with putting all the power mods on without sorting the rest is that you cant enjoy the power properly because your brakes are made of cheese etc  :driver:

Yeh brakes and suspension are already sorted, first thing I do to any car  :happy2:

Hmm hadn't banked on a FMIC, that may have just upped the price a little....

apparently the s3 cooler is good for 500hp!

so you dont really need anything better eg THS/APR/Eurojet, I only fitted the Twintercooler as my car was only making 319hp and fitting it with the s3 would allow timing to be increased. However, part of the low power was down to a boost leak by the Neuspeed ko4 pipe

500hp  :surprised: I'm not planning on going that high!
315-320hp will do me as my Ed is a daily, I'd just like a little more power on tap for using around the air field at work ;)

I would say no. Best saving your money and going for the Eurojet IC. My tuner says it is the business as do many on this forum.

How did you identify this? Was it through a garage and if so what one? I still think there may be a slight leak somewhere on mine.

You can do stage 2 on the standard FMIC... its stage 2+ where you need the upgraded FMIC

Purely a copy and paste from what they said to me.

I'm not shooting anyone. Just giving you facts.

Just out of curiosity then, why no FMIC? Surely the colder the better?

Yes you are correct. An upgraded FMIC will help produce consistent power, but it's not essential to have when at stage 2

Well a decent one like the S3, THS or Eurojet... You cant see it anyway.
