Title: Dsg gremlins
Post by: cass on November 03, 2013, 11:11:46 am
Hi guys got a mk5 gttdi 2005 with a dsg box and I've got a few problems with it. First problem is the abs and traction lights came on last week, got home left it over night started it the next day and the lights had disappeared. Yesterday they came back on and they won't go out?
Next problem is the dsg box , recently in D mode it feels like it's holding onto the gears for to long just like its constantly in S mode. If I knock it over into tiptronic it drives perfectly???? This is starting to drive me mad......I know I need to get it scanned but just asking you guys first
Anybody here from stockport manchester with a scan tool fancy earning some beer tokens? Cheers guys

did you manage to get tihs issue resolved as this is very similar to the issues i am having with an Edition 30 with DSG ?

How hard do you drive in in "D" ?

Maybe the fuzzy logic of the dsg box has gotten use to your style of driving and adapted ?

Maybe a re calibration using VCDS will sort it out, worth a try

Mine is starting to hang in gear for a long time as well now.  Going to reset it again using vcds.

mine seems to be fine going to the gears as normal then for no reason it will drop from 6th to 5th of 4th gear for no reason, if you speed up to make it change it becomes really aggressive as if in sport mode but still in D. it drives fine in manual. you come to a stop and it starts the same all over again. Mechatronic as been suggested but im looking for any other ideas of what it might be. i think it potentially might be an incorrect speed sensor as there are no errors on the diagnostic

any ideas ??

Thanks.

If speed sensor is faulty you can measure that on VCDS..
doesn't sound like that's the problem.

would a mechatronic failure show no errors and still be at fault though ? i dont want go down the road of replacing the mech unit only to find the problem is still there

I've found with my eddy if I accelerate hard in D, it'll hold the gears almost as long as it would do in S! But if I accelerate smoothly then all is well
