Hi there,
Just bought a GTI and noticed a droning noise at all speeds. It's definitely coming from the front somewhere.
I think it's a wheel bearing but hard to pinpoint which side. Tyres are new though I dont think its that issue.
Any other ideas or tips to diagnose?
Thanks

Just turn the wheel a bit while driving in a stright line and that's the side when it stops

Doesn't stop making the noise haha, I havn't tried turning hard though.

Wheel bearing maybe?

Try going round a roundabout or an empty car park or industrial estate where you can hold a far bit of lock left and right. That should cause an increase/decrease in noise if its a wheel bearing or drive shaft u/j.
What tyres do you have? Some can drone badly on certain road surfaces - especially cheapos!

Another one for possibly the tyres,I had some Goodyear F1's which made that noise at 20mph,they stopped after a while.

I have budget tyres on the rear of my Golf and they drone pretty badly to the point where i had to check the wheel bearings twice. They are that bad.
There is no point changing them as i will be putting wintre wheels on in the next couple of weeks.

They are brand new Nankangs (lol), it doesn't really sound like tyre noise and definately seems to be coming from the front, possible the front left.
Really need to try some hard cornering to see which side.
It also makes a slightly higher pitched noise at low speed when pulling away sometimes.

If that pic of theBlack GTI is yours - it does look really low. With the driveshafts working at that angle, could be your problem.
Looks BTW!

It's on air so doesn't get driven that low
