hi guys just a quick question re my oil level light(orange one)came on a couple of days ago so I had a look. yeah fair play it was low ish! I topped it up to the right level but the light didn't go out
so today I thought id do a mini service OIL FUEL AIR filters and oil
all done topped up the right levels and the light is still on??
Anyone got any ideas its freaking me out driving it whilst its on but i'm 100% sure there's the right amount in the engine?
ops sorry its on my 2006 GT TDI 170

The oil sensor is tied in with the bonnet catch/switch. It knows if you've had the bonnet open to check the level. I was having issues with it keep throwing the yellow check oil light and I knew the level was ok so just opened the bonnet and closed after a few seconds.
It could also be a faulty oil level sensor. I ended up changing mine.

Ay up dude hows tricks?

The previous owner of my car had a similar issue, the paperwork i have talks about the oil light not going out even after re-filling and that they scanned it and replace a switch in the bonnet mechanism
Not very helpful i know, i'll dig out the paperwork when i get home and see whats on there

Cheers peeps just popped outside to have a look at the bonnet bonnet switch I'm guessing this is my problem...(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fr765%2Fx21ekx5%2F0b0ddae4c9584930ca83f5d323ebc72f_zps96b7c78c.jpg&hash=8321b4534e1469bd444029042388ee180b0dca8b)
Anyone know what sort of job it is to replace and costs?
once again cheers guys :happy2: :happy2:

I'm good thanks mate. How's you?
Oil level sensor is in the sump so best to change it once the oil is drained. Bit of a mess if now haha.
What does your picture show? Can't really see. Is it a broken wire?

Good good :happy2:
Ah that might be your trouble then. You might be able to repair it depending on where it's broke.
Haha yeah you don't want to be dropping the oil again.

Ok, dug out the invoice from previous owner - "Oil level light on, topped up with 1.7L oil but light still on. On further investigation there is a fault on the bonnet lock - needs bonnet lock pin switch"
Then on the next invoice it says - "Fit new bonnet catch switch. Replaced bonnet switch and cleared fault memory"
