I have the dreaded wheel arch rust on both wings.
06 plate, 67500 miles, totally standard.
VW Dealer are already trying to snake out of paying. They are saying it's not corrosion, it's a manufacturing fault and as "good will" will pay 50-70 percent of the cost dependant upon mileage?
They have not even viewed it!!!!
Booked on for viewing on Monday!
What are your experiences.. I'm livid!

go to another dealer see what they say!!!

Body protection warranty
All current Volkswagen vehicles are fully protected during manufacture against through corrosion for 12 years from the date of first registration.
The only preconditions are:
The defect must be reported to a member of the Volkswagen Authorised Network as soon as it is discovered and within the warranty period.
The perforation must not have been caused originally by damage, neglect, insufficient care or maintenance or by external rusting.
A member of the Volkswagen Authorised Network must be advised about any rusting as soon as it is found.
All body repairs will be carried out promptly in accordance with the manufacturer's specification and procedures, using only approved parts and materials, so the original level of anti-corrosion protection is maintained.

Has to be actually perforated from inside out for that warranty to count. Wheel arch problem is not classed as this which is why repairs are always called 'goodwill gestures'. It's not fair I know, but that is VWs stance and they can get away with it.

I don't care what causes it, but a 7 year old low mileage car shouldn't rust.
Bloody VW. German quality, lol.

Yeah I know! My thoughts exactly, there should be no rust whatsoever. They replaced my wings for free with no problem, but another time I had to kick up a fuss to get them to do my boot rust. I wrote a long complaint to the VW MD in Germany and that did the trick!

Check out the threads on here about Mk5 Golf wings rust. Thw wheel arches problem is not a body warranty issue.
