Title: Retro-fitting armrest with working air vents
Post by: paulw123 on November 07, 2013, 01:54:14 pm
So I've finally got a leather armrest, after looking for ages on Ebay.
Ordered the additional air ducting from the dealers today. He reckoned there was only 1 option, item 10, even tho I have seen photos of a single pipe. It appears to be split into 2 and must fit over the gear knob ?
Has anybody fitted this successfully?
For £11 I thought I would give it a go. Hopefully it will be the single version and can fit around the gear stick.

Thanx Simon,
Yeah there are 2 versions, cubby hole and cd/mdi/usb type. The cubby hole type also has different air ducts which split to cool the box, i guess to keep your sarnies cool. I got the cd type with cd player removed. Not what I wanted, but it took me ages to find this one. Hoping to fit single din universal tray into the hole left behind. Its in pretty good condition, especially the rear air vents & cup holder, guess these don't get used much in GTI's
I got it from www.nirro.co.uk, email parts@nirro.co.uk .No screws with it and it was only bubble wrapped, no box.
It was £163 delivered thro Ebay.

You mean the large pipe that goes under the centre console I take it rather than under the armrest. There are two versions of the pipes - the earlier cars had the one that splits around the gearstick, later ones just to the one side

you're spot on there, even tho the dealer image was of the split one around gear stick, what actually arrived was the single left hand version  :happy2: which should make it easier to fit.
why does the euro cup holder only come with 1 mat in   :fighting:  still gives me a cheap upgrade....

There is a chap on eBay who sells both mats and the bottle opener/divider for £9.99  :happy2:
