Hi everyone
Considering there is such a large price difference between a new eBay coolant temp sensor and a genuine vw one, are the eBay ones any good or just rubbish?
Thanks

Buy it once, buy it from Volkswagen :happy2:
Any time I have to change sensors for people I only use dealer parts as euro parts or e bay you are paying for s h_it

I tried one from eBay - sensor worked perfectly however the Oring was just too small.
I would try here

There's just such a massive difference in price - I cannot believe the one that is £7 as opposed to the VW OEM at £30 is exactly the same item. It must be a grey copy.
I think I am inclined to go genuine, only because I can't be bothered to do the job twice if the cheap one turns out to be rubbish - plus I don't have access to VCDS so if anything is slightly different about the £7 one to OEM, I can't reset anything!

Agree. Sometimes it's just not worth buying patten parts. On my last Mk4 GTi I replaced the green top coolant sensor with a non VW part and ended up replacing it three times in a year as they kept on failing. Bought a genuine one from VW which the problem.

Go for genuine. Best to call into your local tps as you get the whole housing and sensor, not just the sensor on it's own

Try ECP. They got some items close to OEM

No
DO NOT BUY ANYTHING OTHER THAN GENUINE MAFS, SENSORS, THERMOSTATS, ETC.
Always 100% fail. Many are broken from new. Many break within a matter of months. Not worth the hassle.. buy genuine every 3-4 years maybe or buy fake every 3-4 months.
