Finally got the haldex and s3 tank in! Just gearbox and prop to fit. Then bring on the winter :-) (https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1283.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fa559%2Fpaulmk5gti%2F20131117_102117_zps6b267438.jpg&hash=0c252f54d73db0ec652dbc57cc1c2d3fb7a0ebdc)

Hey guys, just fancied a challenge and more traction lol . I have been doing the swap the last few weekend's and hopefully will have it all sorted this weekend. Had a few in tank fuel pump issues so have opted for the ttrs pump. I am just waiting for a delivery from TPS tomorrow for the left hand sender unit (suction jet pump) and then things are back on track :-):-) any questions just ask . I am not a build thread kind of guy :-(

Paul

FWD MK5 shell/chassis?  Modification to boot floor?
R32/4 motion prop shaft, rear subframe c/w diff, shafts suspension gubbins and Haldex etc?

Custom fab exhaust?

Spill the gory details!

Thanks

Stuart

hi Stuart, yeah started with a mk5 fwd car. After gathering all the parts needed. I started with the first job of the boot floor modifications after a lot of measurements I had got to this point (https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1283.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fa559%2Fpaulmk5gti%2F20131109_132617_zpsb2e85f7c.jpg&hash=cde2ed1fccd0b9bf80b50031962ad90568140a4b)
And then I started to cut the steel to size to make my half moon spare wheel well ;-)
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1283.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fa559%2Fpaulmk5gti%2F20131109_174540_zps62b24ae8.jpg&hash=165f47be2ec39a800c068b3f6d9cabbd84cb1e35)
Then after all the welding was done I installed the S3 fuel tank followed by the aluminium subframe with the haldex fitted to it. Then it was just the case of transferring all the suspension components and brakes.I also had to make a new brake pipe due to a different setup on the R32. Last weekend I fitted the s3 gearbox and shorter drive shaft. So this weekend I have to fit the propshaft and weld the centre bearing mounts. Then do a bit of wiring and hopefully all will be complete :-):-) hope this answers most of your questions ;-)

Really appreciate that Paul.

I've been doing a lot of research into this the last few nights (bored on nightshift offshore).  Seems like you're doing all I expected was needed.

Keep us updated :)

Cheers,

Stuart

Good work  :happy2:

I started acquiring the parts to do this a while back, but have decided to take a different direction with my car. If anyone is looking into doing this and wants any parts, please pm me as I'd be happy to sort out a good deal  :happy2:

Looks fantastic, would love something like this. Perfect car for those who dont want an S3 or an R32 but want Haldex AWD.

One thing I have always pondered, why dont we see more R32's with TFSI engine transplants?
Buy R32, Sell R32 Engine, Buy ED30/S3 Lump .. Sureley you have an alot simpler base for big power and AWD in an AWD Chassis?

I know I am going to upset the R32 fans, but I would assume the above is a quite cost effective way of getting an AWD Golf with easy to extract power?
I know it wont replicate the 'soul' or noise of an R32, but Forced Induction is very expensive for R32 Set ups.

Yeah I love the sound of the R32. But my wallet would not stretch to a turbo R32. ;-);-)

I imagine the V6 R32 engine from donor car would fetch strong money, there must be a technical reason which I'm unaware of.
