Hi all, firstly I'd like to apologise for yet another question of this type on here!
I've tried to read up as best I can but I'd like to confirm a few things.
I have a 2008 MK5 GTI with an RCD300 and iPod Dock thing in the armrest.
I want to fit an RCD510 DAB (ideally).
Am I correct in thinking that I should NOT require a new gateway due to the age of my car?
Will I require anything else? I think I need a new aerial if I go for a DAB one?
Will my iPod connection still work with an RCD510?
I hope you can appreciate that I've tried to do my homework and not just expect you all to tell me everything! Thanks!!!

You should ideally get a vcds scan and it will tell you your canbus version.
Your ipod connection should still work but you may have to move one or two wires in the block harness that plugs into the back of the unit to correctly earth it.
-
Your should be just fine with your 2008.
I fitted an RCD510 to my 08 plate, plug and play, no problems whatsoever with battery drain :happy2:
-
Thanks both. I think if I do get one I could fit it at the start of the weekend and leave the car to see if the battery drains.
-
I'm pretty sure it's golf's on and after 2007 that don't need to be modified for battery drain

I've ordered an RCD510 DAB, a glass mount DAB aerial and MK6 climate panel. Need a fascia I suppose!

you'll need one of these as well, as the aerial sockets on back of head units are different.
