Post by: Syrag64 on November 19, 2013, 07:27:51 pm
Does anyone make an uprated dogbone mount?  I'm going to get some THS engine mounts and want to do dogbone too if I can  :happy2:

There are several companies that will do an Uprated insert.

HPA do a complete replacement mount as do THS and a few others.

The HPA one costs quite a bit, but from the reports in the USA, it is the one to go for.

Do they also do the engine mounts?  Where would I get them?

I've used nearly all the different option of lower mounts over the years bar the hpa version.  There is no need to change the arm for something different. The inserts from powerflex and superpro work well if on a budget. The THS is a little harsh, but a good step up from an insert.  The one to go for if money is no object and you want the best qua lity and performance is the vibratechnics. They do the replacement bush for the subframe and the replacement small bush in the arm.

The bsh/revo kit is a full replacement arm, but with only an insert for the subframe. As you ddon't need to replace the arm it's not even worth a look in.

i have the THS mount and then bought the vibratechnics dogbone from alex.

it has settled down now a bit but the first couple of 1000 miles is like being in a diesel truck ( i would imagine!)

the NVH through the dash is severe and needed to take some of the dash apart to get rid of the rattles so if you're not prepared fot this dont bother.
if however, you want to make your car as hardcore as you can go for it

Turns out the THS mixed with the small VT bush in the dogbone isn't the best combo.

why is that alex, cause the THS is too harsh?

The vibratechnics mounts are not harsh at all.  Miles comfier that even an insert.  Ths mount is very harsh, and even more so with the dogbone bush.

Had a golf r in a few weeks back, had a poly insert bush fitted and couldn't leave it in D at the lights. Replaced with both vt mounts and it doesn't feel any different in N or D.  Very happy result.

The Vwr subframe mount isnt made by vt any more and is poly rather than rubber.  Not very smooth.

Had the Virbra-Technics Dogbone bush and also the Vibra-Technics Bottom Engine Mount fitted yesterday. IMHO there really is no noticable (or extra) vibration or noise at all in the cabin but the difference is makes is VERY noticable. Very happy camper here too.
