Title: New to VAG cars, looking to own a gti..

I currently own a ep3 and am looking to get a mk5 gti soon, so thought I'd join here to learn as much as possible about them before taking the plunge..

So far I am aware of only a few things that can go wrong, the mechatronics unit, cam follower and DV...

Any further info on what to look for and other relevant info would be great while I read up on them :happy2:

It went from stanced out to being setup purely for fun...

I do love my car and in over two years of ownership I have never had a single problem, but I feel now I wouldn't mind something a little nicer and more eardrum friendly with good tuning capabilities...

I've driven a few gti's (one with a few mods and an r tech map) and loved it... So I think this is the logical next step for me

by 'proper' are you refering to manual?

only interested in DSG to be honest

If your going for a DSG car make sure it's been maintained properly I.e oil and filter change at least every 40000 miles

Definately, i dont want to be buying a poorly looked after example...

Reading up on here it seems there are endless problems with these cars :scared: i really don't want to be fixing and replacing parts all the time... Or maybe i'm just looking to deep into the faults... Its just im used to my car which is super reliable, and one of the things i really really do not want is a a moneypit ( unless the money is going on mods!)
