Title: Chrome switch question
Post by: Human Joist on November 21, 2013, 03:38:21 pm
Hi I am looking to replace my passenger front window switch on the gti as it's faulty. I was looking at the chrome versions to avoid the wearing issue and also doing the rest of the set. I have seen sets on eBay but they all seem to be from china. Are these any good or are they rubbish. I have seen a few cars having been swapped over and I just wondered you get the bits from.

keep looking for the chrome ones from a jetta, they are direct fit and replacement, look on the forum and eBay and avoid the china crap.

use the search, get the UK part numbers and order them from your local TPS  :happy2:

IMO they make a big improvement to the interior for about £50 (ish for a 3dr)  :drinking:

Some of the guides will advise that you remove the door handle when changing the passenger window switch. This involves removing the inner door skin.

Although a little fiddly, it can easily be fitted by just removing the lower section of the handle and accessing from underneath  :happy2:

Cheers guys. Ordered a chrome mk6 one from VW for now as it's £17. Then will decide if I want to order the rest from VW or bold sport

Sorry to hijack, but these are from China, but they say OEM.
Guessing they're ones to avoid?

It was that sort of thing I was about to order but changed mind now. Have got a genuine one for now to repair the fault. Think the ones from USA aren't genomes to have as a good compromise from what I am hearing. Better quality but non VW. Unless anyone else has better knowledge
