Title: retro-fit cruise control
Post by: bower on November 21, 2013, 09:22:19 pm
just wanted people to know that if your debating about retro-fitting cruise control then go for it its easy, ive just finished doing mine which i did in the dark with just my phone torch! it really is that easy, the only problem ive been left with is that the turn left indicator isnt cancelling which could be a fault with the stork.
obviously vcds is essential!

Hmmm, good to know. I have all the pieces and VCDS. Just need to get myself in gear and fit it!

Maybe you shouldn't be keeping a stork in your can. Who knows what it peck and damage when your not there!!

another case of the stalk being at fault, hmm doubt it

it is important that when fitting these the slip ring is centred properly or the stalk won't cancel properly

Good to know. How did you find removing the steering wheel & airbag? Negative lead off the battery a wise move?

I'll look up a How-To on here and see if I can get it done at the weekend.  :happy2:

Yes battery off if you don't want airbag light on and it potentially going off in your face lool, steering wheel and airbag is pretty easy, small flat screwdriver inserted into wheel turned to 90 degrees and wiggle the airbag! should just pop off.  How to guide on here is very good.

well ive just striped it again and its got to be stalk thats the problem, i made sure i didnt move the slip ring when i removed it yesterday but when the left signal didnt cancel i thought i must of done, anyway just took it all apart again and when i was turning the indicators left and right with the steering wheel off and just turning the slip ring they both cancelled so thought id cracked it put it all back together and it wont cancel goin left again  :fighting:
just sat on drive not moving just turning the wheel and 95% it cancels but when u go for a drive it doesnt doin my head
anyway will live with it cant be bothered to strip it again
