Title: Fault Code P0601 - ECU Software Update with remap?

Through the search function I've gathered that this is a common ECU fault for these cars, I have both the MIL light and the EPC Light showing as per the other threads.

My question is; Does an ECU software update from VW delete/affect a remap?

A VW ecu software update will over-write any prior remap/programming of your ecu i.e. you will lose your remap.

Bugger! Guess I'll have to lose the Remap to get rid of the Engine Light :(

Most tuners will re-apply their map for free or a small fee if VW updated your ecu software wiping the remap.

I have no proof of purchase of the Remap as it was done a few year back before I owned the Golf. It was owned by a company before me that no longer trades (AMD Technik).

I think they did REVO maps, so would REVO have my car details on a database?

I'm confused how a software bug can cause an EML light after a vehicle has been mapped. Normally most mappers would use the latest "stock base"?

The car was bought from new by AMD and woulda been remapped a long time ago.

Could someone with VAG Commander solve the problem?
