Had my 2008 GTI for about 2 weeks, just found a fluid leak :(
The fluid looks like a golden colour and it can be found on the lower nearside front wishbone front bolt and also the sump plug. Top of the engine is dry.
I can't see where it is coming from though and nor do I know what it might be - any ideas ?
Cheers,
Darren

Could be water off the aircon if it's has been on.

Wish it was, it's there first thing in the morning and it's oily.
Gone to VW to get checked out.
My bet is driveshaft oil seal nearside.
-
Looks that way!

Urge driveshaft
One on my polo was reconditioned cause the seals broke after I lowered it too much.. Cost £300ish it was a 58 reg
Good luck

If it is your driveshaft though... Don't let it use all the oil! Keep topping it up otherwise things seize and that would cost a fortune

I was worried about driving it in case all the lube ran out so I dropped it off at VW this morning - they'll mug me tomorrow, I mean look at it in the morning.

There is a God and he's not that p155ed at me !
Was the gearbox bung, what a relief £50 including the stealers fault finding fee.
