As post say's how many of you have garages and don't put your car away. I am amazed where I live how many nice cars sit on the drive whilst there is a garage.
I personally use mine all the time, if its not being washed or used its in my garage.
Do you like to leave your pride and joy on show for it to viewed and appreciated ?.
With the amount of thefts and damages by lowlifes reported on this site it does surprise me that garages that could be used don't seem to be.
Just interested in your thoughts on this subject.
-
i dont use mine, the only reason really is cos i cant be arsed to
-
.
I ALWAYS use my garage. It's best for the car, so a no-brainer!
How's this for a garage?....

 :notworthy:
-
Don't use mine for the car as it currently contains summer garden furniture, bbq, power hose, summer tyres.... would love to have the car in there but just don't have the room for everything
-
I wish i could use my garage! It would be an awesome place to work on my car. Unfortunately its just FULL of junk. You can't even enter the garage through the actual door as theres so much in there. Offered to clean it out for my parents in turn for letting my have the car in there but they didn't accept.
-
My Corrado has the garage and my Golf the driveway. Seems the logical way of doing it.
-
Always try and put both cars away - especially this weather, I'm fortunate to have a double garage :ashamed:
-
Since fitting the old kitchen in there, the car will no longer fit (well it would but I wouldn't be able to get out, lol) --- use a car port to keep most of the weather off.

Move out then!
My car has never been garaged and neither was my TDI.
-
I want a garage, however as i am in the military and live in married accom i have no garage!!! :fighting:
-
I never use my garage as it's far too much effort getting the car in and out.
-
I would jay, but I'm holding off till next year. Hopefully will be doing a placement year for my uni course so I'll be moving out then ahah!
-
My garage is for my motorbikes. The car is perfectly ok out in the rain and snow.
-
If my garage was full size - which it isn't because the previous owners built a utility room into the end of it, I still wouldn't use it as its just too small to be useful. Its a standard size and I wouldn't want to put anything much bigger than my Pug in it, I'd never get out of the car if I tried to put my 330d coupe in it!!!
-
The car only comes out of the garage to be washed or driven else it stays indoors

You drive a Golf not a Ferrari.
-
I would love to use my garage but I have a new build.... be lucky to fit an old mini in there!

-
Garage? Mine is actually a home for my car. Please dont refer to it as a garage, my car might get offended.
-
Got a single garage which I always use to store 1 of my cars and also use one of my parents garages a few miles away to store another car. I am looking to move house and one of the requirements is a double garage. They are both just vw golfs but they could be bangers and I would still garage them, suppose its just my attitude towards the point of having a garage
-
I thought this might throw up a few variations of what a garage is used for !!!
Nonetheless very interesting.

I've got a new build and my garage is fairly small. Still tuck the eddy in there though, couldn't imagine leaving it outside after hearing stories from neighbours! Granted its a tight fit and I feel like an acrobat trying to get out of it.... But I feel the benefits far out way the risks.
-
my mk1 cab lives in the garage
got the room to build a triple garage but not got the cash to build it maybe it the next 5 years :happy2:
-
I live in a very nice area... but this has it's drawbacks as the scumbag thievs love to prowl for easy pickings so my GTD goes in the garage every night but the company Renault sits on the drive .... the buggers never touch it :signLOL:
-
I like to park my bus in the missus' garage. Vroom vroom
-

Irrespective of the cars I have had they all get parked in the garage. It is a double garage so half for the car and half for all the other stuff we accumulate. I find it so much more comfortable in both winter and summer to get into a car that has been parked in the garage.

x2
With 3 bikes tucked away there's not a lot of room left for the car
-
u guys are lucky to have a garage im looking forward to having a drive way when i buy a house yet alone a garage! :jumping:
-
Always park in the garage.
Current garage would have been large enough to fit an old fashioned saloon but just about copes with the Golf. No way would a modern saloon fit.
-
Used to keep my Evo in the garage , but now just for storage .
Eddy will fit when the seats move

That's even better - it will be just like going private with the built in entertainment! :happy2:
-
My would be garage is now a kitchen diner :signLOL:

You have too much money obviously :happy2:
-
Always put my car in the garage now, just recently become a first time buy and found a house i had to have 3 bedroom detached with a big drive and a double garage that was it for me when i saw them.
-
I have a double garage, but never put the car in there, it's more like a massive shed really. There are 2 doors on it and they're not really wide enough for even a Golf sized car, plus it's quite tricky to drive in and out out because of the big slope my drive has.
The garage has about 3 lawnmowers in it, plus gardening tools, normal tools, bicycles, pressure washer, winter wheels (must put them on), garden furniture, ladders, an old TV, car cool box, car cleaning/maintenance stuff, decorating stuff, a potting table, holiday suitcases, boxes for electrical items in the house etc etc, so there's not a lot of room for a car!
-
Recently moved to a new place with a double garage and separate workshop. So the S3 gets parked In the centre of the garage witjh my tools and wheels etc out of the way in the workshop. All gardening and diy stuff gets relegated to the shed :happy2: the misses reckons the garage/workshop set up is the only reason I wanted this particular house, she may have a point
-
My would be garage is now a kitchen diner :signLOL:
....Knowing how much TLC you give 'Phyllis' (Saintsteve's name for his car if you didn't know), I must admit I was suprised when you converted to a kitchen.
-

....aka Man Shed! No women allowed entry. :happy2:
-
I always use my garage, thats what they're for after all. Only time I don't use it is if the car is wet. No point in putting it away when it's wet because this promotes rust, with the car not drying out properly with the aid of the wind/sun etc. Theres is nothing worse than getting a sun baked bird shat on your pride and joy in the summer either,so into the garage she goes :happy2:
-
Since I've owned the mk5 its always been in there :congrats:
Painted floor/walls.
Car pictures.
Work bench.
Tools.
Polish and cloths.
Beer fridge.
Radio.
Plus boiler for the house is in there so not to cold.

Havnt used the garage over the summer as it was full of building materials, but eddie is now tucked up at night. Helps to keep it out the way of prying eyes, makes it far easier to set off in the morning when its frosty, i just drive off :P :signLOL:
-
we have 3 garages (well technically a single and a double) but they are not used for the golfs.
the single garage has all the tools materials etc for work, and the other double garage has damp. plus my bros mk1 golf is in there so 1 bay is already taken up. its got crap at the back so you can't get a car in easily , even a golf mk5 which really isn't that long. plus water comes in from the hill (its built into a hill) so wouldn't want to leave it in there anyway. now if that was fixed, and the twin doors replaced with a single roller shutter then probably. i hate the trees round ours, and their tiny 1 inch thin leaves.
-
Always garaged I have a 3 car garage but it's currently got 2 cars in plus a mtr bike and loads of other stuff plus my tools and loads of other stuff
-
More pics in this thread please :innocent:
-
Mk2 golf lives in my garage, the eddy lives on drive unless I'm doing a detail on it then I'll stick it in the garage and go nuts on it for a week
-

Yep, opening a garage door is tricky and time consuming.... :-)

I built a one-and-a-half garage so that my car, motorbike and bicycles can fit. The electric shutter door wasn't expensive.
I also have a 10'x8' shed for the garden stuff. The wife and kids share a 6'x4' shed for all their toys.
Before you all feel too jealous, the house is a tip!
-
My car always end up in the garage and we leave the wife's Renault on the stone drive that we made so we can get 2 cars on our drive! Couldn't live without my garage, especially now it's colder it saves time defrosting it in the mornings.
-
I store the mk2 golf project in the garage and keep the mk5 golf parking in front of the doors for added security. It's a double garage but the previous owner decided to put a single door opening? Crazy but that's South Wales for you!
-
Neither me or my mate have garages at home (well mine is useless and full of stock car bits) so we rent this place for the nissans to live in.

Obviously its now a sh*thole and a shrine to nissans (rusty old sh*te everywhere)
