Hi,
I've owned a 2004 GT Tdi for a few months and the lack of aux input is killing me! I have been looking to install an aux input and have found a few threads that suggests it can be done.
I have come found an aux "switch" on ebay and would like some help in determining whether or not it is likely to work on the stock RCD 300 or not.
Here's the switch:

Any help is much appreciated.

Strangely i have just bought the same AUX kit for my RCD510 :)
-
Google the Connects2 Aux kit mate. bit fiddly and wiring takes some time to setup but worth it.
-
Just out of interest, where would the aux socket sit within the cabin?
Would it be next to the traction control and tyre reset buttons just infront of the gearstick?
Been thinking of getting one, or theres a USB version as well

There are more switches available from VW than sockets available to install them in the mk5. There's ESP, TPMS, Aux, Usb, Winter mode and maybe some more (parktronic?) while there are just 4 slots in total. The Aux is rectangular in all 4 corners so it can to go in either one of the 2 inner slots. The Usb switch can only be installed in the right slot cause of the rounded corners. Unless you got something else there (Winter mode).

The one i bought would only fit in the one location, so thats where it is :)

Degudodger did you install the Aux socket? Is there no chance that it will fit in the other free slot, next to esp?
-
The location is determined by plastic guides on the switch body which line up with those in the corresponding slot, if you remove these you should be ok.
Kind of wish i took some photos now

may have to get one of these for my rcd510.
When i got my car i had a rcd300 with a aux input in the glove box, but since installing the 510 it doesnt work :scared:

Do a search as i THINK you need to swap one of the pins over on the plug for the AUX socket to work with the RCD510
