I have intermittent poor signal in the edition, the gti signal was always rock solid. (It had a shark fin, the edition has a "normal aerial" with stubby thing screwed into it.
I have found the following codes on my snap on scanner for the radio.

What do I need to buy / do / have done?
Cheers

What radio is fitted at the moment?

Rcd300 I think. Looks like the rcd300 but with silver buttons, says mp3 above the cd slot and has an aux input. Can get pics if needed
It must've had an aftermarket head unit at some point as it has amp cables to the boot.

Well there's your answer - you'll need to trace out the cables to see what the last owner has done.
I would remove the head unit and see what's connected for the aerial - possibly cables chopped to suit an after market system rather than fakra.

Cheers mate. I'll get it pulled apart and take a looky-see in the week. Will report back, most likely with more daft questions :)
