As simple as removing pump pulling cam follower out and making sur newne goes in same way?
Any points to note? Amd wanted 60quid to change it and 'set it up'??
-
As far as I know yes. Not sure what 'setting up' involves.
-
Neither me! Maybe they have to charge a minimum of an hours labour :fighting:
-
I'd think it's the cost of the part plus 45 mins labour, so probably about right.
No setting up but you should put the car to Cyl 1 TDC before starting.
£20 ish for the follower.
When you remove the old one, stick your finger in the whole and get some oil out to smear on the new one before you insert it.
If you've never removed the pump before yourself then there are a couple of safety issues, I'll not post them in case you know but if you don't come back and ask.
-
Ive got the part already. You mean disconnectng battery and relieving pressure, or is there some more safety points.
Without having to turn the engine over with the bottom pulley is there a method of making sure cyl 1 is tdc? Is itimportant
that cyl 1 is tdc before changing?

It's not essential to disconnect the battery, just don't turn on the ignition or open the drivers door while the pump is disconnected.
As you say bleed off the pressure from the brass nipple, which has to be removed anyway to access the lower right screw.
With the help of a friend you can rock the car onto TDC with it in gear, if it's manual, if not then as you say turn over the bottom pulley.
Not sure how important it is but it is a procedure in the factory manual prior to fitting a pump.
