I'm thinking of changing my ed30 rear bumper for a r32 one, i have a milltek full system on the car would the r32 back box be a straight swap? or would i need and r32 cat back? are they different bore sizes?
-
None of the OEM R32 catback one's will fit,you will have to get one made or buy one I like did,I bought the Milltek R32 style catback on my old Ed30 and it fit no problem's.
-
ahhh right so milted do sell an r32 style one for the mk5 gti then
-
ordered one on friday mate. Although the backbox is known for sitting low and being slightly visible under the bumper I still took the plunge (whether or not it was a good idea was another thing ha!). Not sure if you could just replace the backbox section due to the way the res/non-res section meets the backbox. Could always give someone like awesomegti a call or something, they might be able to help check part numbers for the standard left sided exit vs the R32 style....

Just been down to my usual paint guy with the PPCGB bumper for a quote on a respray... He reckons about £200 for fitting prep and spray with an additional £80 if he fits the cat-back exhaust. The £80 doesnt seem bad for the exhaust but is the £200 a lot for a candy white spray with satin black valance? Beginning to think at that cost, it might just be worth trying to source a genuine R32 rear bumper at the rate the cost is building up! Anyone able to advise on their thoughts for the quote.... or even if they know of an R32 lower rear bumper available for a reasonable price???
-
Just had mine done. To smooth and spray the front valance and two side skirts and spray my PPCGB rear valance grey and black cost me £250 (mates rates). For a pre cat delete and to fit my BCS exhaust cost me £45 in a local garage (1hour @ £45/hr). £80 to fit an exhaust is excessive.
-
Yea I was pretty shocked when he said how much...he did my whole front end with some repair work for round 400... Think I might get the bumper fitted with exhaust first and look for prep and paint elsewhere maybe...although it'll look pretty crap for a week or so :/.
-
Did you get your bumper sprayed first and get it fitted with the exhaust im guessing mate? Did you have any issues fitting the ppcgb rear at all or have you noticed any fitment issues whatsoever?
-
I took mine to get my exhaust fitted then dropped the car off at the body shop. My mate who sprayed and fitted the rear valance said there was no problems at all with fitting or prep work.
-
Thanks man! Think ill get the exhaust fitted with the bumper then look to get it sprayed afterwards. Got quoted £35 plus VAT for the exhaust fitting so can't complain with that!
-
Sorry to hijack this thread but rather than starting a new one....
I'm looking at getting an r32 style full TBE and will obviously need the bumper to go with it. Is the exhaust a straight swap or does anything need to be modified in order for it to fit?
-
The exhaust is a straight fit mate. Having bought a BCS one for mine I can highly recommend them. :happy2:

Ok mate thanks. Did you go for the full exhaust or just cat back?
My cars the same colour as yours by the looks of it. Have you got any pics of yours from the rear?
Cheers.

Not on subject but really like your wheels and how well they suit the car. Fantastic look! Are they Audi rims?
