I have a problem with my 2006 mk5 golf gti, the 12v out socket in the boot is not working but the one in the front works fine, any ideas? I have looked at what i believe to be the correct fuses but they both appear to be fine.

The Boot 12 volt socket is known as U5 and is on a different circuit to the front or rear cab cig lighter.
It should be on fuse SC 26 - 20amp fuse.
Send me a PM if you need a circuit diagram and fuse holder break down.

Ive checked the fuse and its fine, atleast I think it was the correct one but I checked them all to be sure :/

On this drawing it's fuse 14 on fuse holder C

Best to check the fuses with test light not just a visual inspection!

I checked them with a multimeter on the continuity setting, could it be a dodgy wire or something?
-
It's going to be one of those jobs where you need to dismantle bits to check what's going on.
My next move would be to see if someone has disconnected it and used the supply for something else (like boot amp).
If it's not disconnected - Then make a note of the of the wiring and check the supply to the connections both feed and earth!

Ive checked all of the fuses and the cigarette lighter in the front works fine so im going to remove the boot 12v out and check the wires.
