Title: Newish member - pirelli GTI
Post by: samb377 on December 04, 2013, 06:50:11 pm
Ok, so I've loitered on these forums for long enough but never actually posted anything...

After owning a standard GTI for 3 years, 6 months ago I got myself a Pirelli Edition GTI. The main reason for this was a snapped achilles so I needed the DSG, but obviously when you get a new car it has to have a bit more power than the last one

I'm based in Maldon essex. I'll get some pics on here as soon as I get a chance.

Hello and welcome, that's interesting that your down that neck of the woods, I traded my Pirelli to Incape in Romford, have you bought my old car? :happy2:

Round about the same time I was looking one popped up at Romford, but it was snapped up before they even got a chance to put a picture on the advert. Maybe that was yours? I ended up travelling quite a way to get mine (sheffield).

It's almost stock, just a carbonio intake which I took off my old GTI before I sold it.

Since buying it I haven't done too much, just the basics - a full 'self' service (all the filters, spark plugs, oil, cam follower), DSG service (I'm pretty paranoid about that 3k unserviceable box), rust repair on the rear o/s wheel arch (used fullbridge restorations, who are up there with the best in my book) and thats about it I think.

On the cards - brake service and pad upgrade, cam belt change, maybe a remap. Also need to check the seal on my DV.

My handbrake leather is looking a bit worse for wear, but I've been told by my local independent that VW have stopped doing the pirelli interior...

Cheers guys, admittedly it's a bit of a marmite thing. It definitely looks better in the flesh.

lovely car mate - looks really tidy from those photos.

Have a look at the furniture clinic  for leather restoration products. I used their stuff to rejuvenate the leather in my old car.

good luck and let me know if you need more details  :happy2:
