Title: Rear valances - Anybody bought from ebay?
Post by: jack_maxwell on December 05, 2013, 08:30:45 pm
Looking to buy a new rear valance to get rid of the horrible lump of black plastic that is currently in place. Looking at a couple on fleabay and was wondering what peoples opinions where or if anybody had done something the same.

Just saw that the picture on the top one has been used on other listings and a different seller. A bit sketchy

At least this guy has a picture of the raw product but doesn't come with reflectors...

It has the bits for the reflectors but doesn't actually have them

Fitment is always slightly off but nothing a saving of a couple hundred pounds doesn't help with lol

What work was needed to fit the PPCGB? What prep was required before painting? What price did u pay for painting?

PPCGB just clips to the top half of the rear bumper mate. There were two bolts which held the oem bumper below which weren't needed but the fitment is fine. Dont think theres a great deal more work in prepping the bumper in comparison to any other sort of bumper really mate, might be worth giving it the once over and making sure the surface is all good etc but that'd likely be picked up by a good bodyshop when its sprayed etc. Mines booked in and all 3 quotes were around £200 ish (probably not the cheapest especially if you have a mate who can sort you out with a better rate perhaps) for gloss white with either satin/gloss black exhaust valance.

I did notice where it met the wheel arches, one side protruded a tad further so I'm gna see if the bodyshop I take it to can work a bit of magic and tidy that up a bit but it all looks decent otherwise.

I have one on order from PPCGB and am getting it sprayed along with some other bodywork "damage". If people are interested I will post some before and after pics.

If you want genuine part numbers, let me know as I have done the R32 conversation myself. I went with genuine parts new but you can get a second hand set up for a good price, bit of prep yourself could save some cash.

I'd be interested to see it mate as I'm looking at doing the same  :happy2:

Mine is an ebay one but still one solid section as you said (unlike the OEM ones which are 2 pieces).  I got mine sprayed in 2 colours no problem at all.

When I got mine painted, I got the bodyshop to mask the lower section which I have just left the base black plastic colour and it looks fine.
