had to do this the other week

it is on the side of the stereo mine was stamped in the metal

you will need to go into vw with the log book and I.D

Good to know for the future. Any pics to show what numbers, etc needed?

For example, buying a 2nd hand RCD/RNS, go into VW with your logbook and the serial number off the side of the radio?

Or does it need to be original owner with radio?

it only works when it is the original radio from the car you own that's why they want the log book

and your I.D is to prove you are the owner as it will match the log book

I was in the dealers for 5 mins and all sorted free of charge

I also did this recently, I rang up the original dealer with the registration and they did the rest from that.
No ID needed and not even the VIN + serial I expected them to ask for.

I did phone up but they said I had to come in

I did not buy the car from new and it was not the dealership the car was bought from
