Title: Duplicate service book
Post by: Chris92 on December 09, 2013, 10:55:28 pm
When I got the car I rang vw to confirm what was stamped in the duplicate book was correct, what I want to know can I buy a normal service book? Also if I get copy's of the invoices of work done can I send the new book off to get stamped and sorted? Not keen on these dup books

Id be interested in this too. The prev owner lost the book, so I got VW to confirm the history the day before I bought the car.

You will have to send it to each garage that has serviced the car , one garage won't do all of them . Bit of a pain ! The actual copies of invoices are worth more than the service book all day long

Yeah I'm gunna ring them this week, it shouldn't be too bad as the car has only had one service somewhere in Manchester and the rest is in Newcastle and I live in the Newcastle area so il pop in  :happy2: . I take it on the invoices if it has had for example spark plugs it will have them on the invoices yes? So then the box next to spark plugs on the service book can be ticked. Or do they just say service on invoices?

That is the importance of the invoices . If they don't tick something a dodgy seller could tick the box saying they did something , the schedule should show a yes and no box and all boxes should be ticked to say whether they did a job or not .
If you have been billed for spark plugs it will detail them on the invoice together with all other items like oil filter washers brake fluid washer bottle stuff etc
