Title: New to Mk5's and forums...
Post by: ardirom on December 10, 2013, 06:10:16 pm
Hey folks, just joined recentley after using the site to look for info on my new mk5 GT Sport. Thought i'd say hi and get my post count underway!!
I've just upgraded my mk4 to a mk5 and will be slowly changing bits and bobs over time...
So far, all i've done is upgrade the firmware and maps, black out all my chrome badges, and fit smoked rear lights.
Looking forward, i'm hoping to retro fit cruise control, possibly lower slightly, and def change the lower valance on the rear bumper.
One thing i'm dissapointed with in my new car is going to sound pathetic to most of you, but how dissapointing are the parcel shelf strings compaired to the self retracting ones on the mk4? Just saying
Apart from that, very impressed with the mk5 so far...

welcome aboard.
I take you got a diesel?
I went from MK4 gttdi like yourself.Nice not have the window regulators fail on Mk5, hopefully....
First thing I had added was cruise control. Then rcd510 DAB and armrest, all good mods.

Thanks mate, yeah it's another diesel.
Funnily i had the window regulators go on my mk4 as well.
I like the sounds of upgrading to DAB.
Was the cruise control a tricky job? Just had a quick look at the instructions on here, and certainly looks like a test.
I'm a bit more wary after almost bricking my rns510. Tried to upgrade too far!

I let the dealer do it. Looked too much for me to be honest, plus the dealer gives a warranty if it plays up later on. I use it all the time on my daily commute & love it.
You got the 140 or 170bhp version?
Leather seats & tinted rear windows?

Fair enough mate, was there alot of money involved in buying the parts and getting the labour?
Yeah, it's the 170bhp version with full leather and tinted windows.
